Change of scenery
#1

With the white coupe in Newtown having the head and lower parts of the engine repaired, and not to be picked up for two weeks, I decided to take the blue cab out of storage and start driving it. Been driving it for about a week. Put the Cayman away, probably for the year. The 968s are more fun to drive. Really thinking that maybe I ought to get another one ..... or am I completely nuts?

As an alternative to getting another 968, have you considered adding a supercharger to the one that's currently having the engine redone? Seeing as how this would significantly change the driving experience of the car, it would be like having another 968, for far less money. Plus, the coolness factor of the D1 supercharger can't be denied.

Thought about it but two problems:

1) It has the RS Barn stage 2 stuff (header and cat) so the supercharger would require trading all that out, and
2) it has the early connecting rods

Plus I am now into this car for an additional $10K to fix the head, engine, rad, water pump, harness, etc, etc and another $4K for the D1R SC plus buying an original exhaust manifold and cat is a bit tough.

Ooh, I see your point. Getting rid of the header would be a bummer, although maybe you could sell it. I wouldn't worry about the early connecting rods, though. I'm pretty convinced they're OK, unless you spend a lot of time north of 6K, which the supercharger actually discourages. But I understand your reservations.

I agree Kim. And as I work on the registry I am often struck by the high percentage of unique 968s that went to canada so keep an eye out for one.
