Change in Value
#1

I did a quick look at the market for 968s to get a value on my cab. I have been traveling and the car has been in storage for most of the last 24 months so I was considering selling it.

That was until I looked up a few cars that actually sold. Yeah, there are some low 20s prices out there but they don’t seem to move. I'm sure the volume of early boxsters and early 90s 911s on the market doesn’t help. I'm glad I don’t have a 944; they have to be really getting hit.

Looks like I'll but the car back in storage until spring. See what it looks like in better "convertible" weather.

Interestingly the 6 cylinder 914s are making a comeback. With all the rust problems they had there are probably very few goods ones left.

There are so few 968s and they are not a well known model. As a result the car is difficult to value. Anecdotally prices seem to be stable or falling slightly. But as they are not well known, the value of each car is somewhat unique. As a result, they are worth whatever the buyer and seller agree on. I think a nice 32k cab might technically be worth $22k, but in reality it could sell for anywhere between $15k and $25k. It just depends on the buyer's motivation and means.

Selling a convertible is always best in late winter/early spring. Good luck!
