Well of course I have to comment. Privately you know my response! But because of the left thought poleece where 99.9% of words, pictures, actions, thoughts, even something that happened years ago, Cat in the Hat , becomes open to question by those that not only know more than me but also have decided that they have the right to judge everything without question, one should be careful on social media! House that for a run on sentence. Flash will probably give me demerits!

It's hot over there, I thought it was just one of those fancy car covers that everyone was talking about on here a few months ago.

hey, it could be one of those new prototype / development cars they're trying to keep secret and mask it with all sorts of things, but you can still clearly see it's a BMW, or a Porsche , or whatnot ..

or, it could just be a car hijab . most of you refer to cars in the female gender, so in an Islamic country " she " needs to be modestly attired . and her headlights should not be showing . :-) :-)

Hey, I may be amongst the most liberal around here, but I still have a sense of humor, and that's funny!

Agreed I was chuckling. It's ok to be liberal. So if Dan is going to be our resident comedian, how about something on the infamous Harvey Weinstein!!

Nothing funny about him and the allegations ( if true )

Come on. It's a great day to be a progressive liberal democrat. Wonder who came first him or bill Clinton.

Not taking the bait . While I find humor in just about everything else in life, and I'll gladly take pot shots at religion , race , nationality-cultural matters, politics , etc.. there is absolutely nothing even remotely amusing to me about child abuse, animal abuse, crime / violence, disasters , famine , illnesses , or sexual abuse .

BTW, not that it makes it right , but Bill Clinton did NOT INITIATE any of his " inappropriate" activities ..they simply fell in his lap ( so to speak ), unlike predators like Cosby and now apparently Weinstein .

This is one of these threads that likely will go nowhere useful. A small suggestion, perhaps, would be to anticipate this and simply let it die. Trust me - I've jumped in with both feet before in water that was a bit too deep.

Fell in his lap. Won't take the bait. You're absolutely right there is nothing ok about it. I couldn't agree more. Wonder why all those actresses waited until they made their millions and became famous that they came out. That's right they didn't. The hypocrisy stinks to high heaven.

I'm mindful of Kim's note and will keep this conversation away from a slippery slope ( or try...) , but the entertainment industry and the ridiculous money and egos and back stabbing and lack of ethics involved ( possibly only rivaled by the professional sports world ) deserves every shot it gets , so in response to what you're saying , with which I agree to some extent, and to keep this on the humorous note it started, there is a classic, timeless joke which may illustrate the reasons :

" So, what do you do for a living ? "

" I tour with a circus, and my job is to scoop up the elephants' shit "

" Ugh, that sounds absolutely disgusting , why don't you look for another job ? "

" What, and leave show biz ??!! "

Kim why don't you just eliminate this thread? The temptation to continue our adult conversation is just to strong!

I was hoping to accomplish my objective with persuasion. I am not sure that I want to eliminate anything unless it contravenes the Forums "rules". I want to be a "moderator", not a "terminator". But, if needed, I'll be back.

Then why not eliminate the entire " what do you think " section of the forums ?! It's not as if this conversation started as an off-topic comment on an otherwise technical thread and then continued to go on a different track from there .. So just rid the entire section

or, alternatively set some hard rules for this " what do you think " segment whereby topics are restricted to just automobiles related discussions ...other than 968s, that is ..

Same with the " lifestyle " section , ( or is that already closed ? maybe just closed to starting new threads ? )

This did start out as a "car related" threat, well sort of, and then moved into polically-charged dialog. That's where we seem to start to spiral down the drain. "Funny car cover" becomes "which woman abuser was worse" and the Democrats wonderful rebuttal to the Republicans "war on women" (B. Clinton, Weinstein, Weiner), proving that predators are across the political spectrum. And deserve to be punished, both in public and behind bars. And no, the Clinton women didn't fall in his lap, several were dragged into his lap.

Anyway, I think I'll go take the cover off my car and go wash it.

My beef with this thread is really related to post #1.  In Canada, and also elsewhere, the wearing of various types of clothing that cover external features is a charged subject. Casual posts making jest of this can cause problems for people - think of the issue in France a few years back with the newspaper comic.  In some countries it can get you killed. I don't have any real issue with discussions of Clinton, Trump, Weinstein, Cosby or others. That is really a right vs wrong issue with most everyone on the same side. I do have an issue with poking fun of basic human rights of people, especially on a public forum.

And, FWIW, I haven't ever really been a fan of all those non-car lifestyle categories anyway.  I joined in on a couple of threads about music once and wished afterward that I had never seen the category!  If they are closed to new posts that was done previously and perhaps for a good reason.

But now I am ranting and I don't want to do that. I also don't want to delete posts. I only ask for people to check the depth of the water before they leap in headfirst. Or at least pay attention to someone with a sign standing at the edge saying the pool is shallow.

Good evening from Bugtussle.

Look before you leap eh? I think Dan and I have too much good natured fun poking each other which may cause threads to wander.
