BREXIT !
#1

Nothing funny about the material impact on the global markets this event has caused, and this may be the catalyst for other nations seeking their own " independence " from the EU so here are a few suggestions for what to name those initiatives , comparable to the BREXIT designation :

SPLITZERLAND

CZECHOUT

POLEAWAY

DEPARTUGAL

FINISH-ed

ITALEAVE

NETHERMIND

only REMAINIA will stay ..

And now this .... right from Google which just revealed their top searches in the U.K. late yesterday AND post BREXIT today .. This is not a joke although one can't help but think it must be.. The second most popular of the day's searches sought an answer to the " What is the EU " question ..!! These are folks in the UK in case you missed it.. Wow.

Interesting to read the reports about Brexit Leave polititions back peddling on their campaign "guarantees" today, including that this wouldn't hurt the UK economy. I can't believe that UK politicians are just like ours when it comes to "promises". :-) "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

The sad thing is that most pro-brexit voters have no clue what they just did to themselves.

Politicians are the same everywhere. I think to some degree this is much ado about nothing. Our connected world still needs to trade. Restraining trade hurts both the producer and consumer. Are sales going to be restrained over the internet? This was more an immigration issue and the EU bureaucrats inability to deal with this issue by ducking it and hoping it would resolve itself. Creating an non elected supra bureaucracy beholden to themselves was bound to be non responsive to difficult issues. Nationalism never went away, it just agreed to let another mechanism adjudicate their economic and financial differences.

I don't think so. We are one of the countries who started the whole thing, so if Belgium would leave the EU is long gone by then.
