Any idea what this thingamajiggy is ?

Photos below - length 1.25" , diameter 3/8 " . Found it under the 968 in the garage today . Not sure if it fell off a shelf and rolled under the car, or if it belongs to the 968 . At first I thought it's one of the nozzles from my air compressor because it's very similar in appearance to those, but the threads don't fit and what appears like a small push pin inside the cylinder does wiggle at all . When shaken there is a rattle which sounds like there is some ball or other small piece of metal inside that moves about freely and might float up and down with air, ergo the added suspicion it belongs to the compressor, but again, it just does not fit . So the question is : does this look like anything at all that might be a component which belongs in the 968 somewhere ?!
