The “968” numbers insignia on the rear deck on my Cab has worn with a lot of white showing. I’d rather not spend $70 for a new insignia and it just seems wasteful to replace rather than refinish. I assume there is some type of paint or marker I could use to make the numbers all black again. Anyone else ever done this? Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi Bill,
Not sure why this was "invisible". It seems like a perfectly legitimate question.

What are the rear badges made from? When I had my Mk1 Jetta, I painted a plastic grille badge using Humbrol model kit enamel paint and it came out alright - may be worth a look?

Quote:If you care, Wurth makes a black trim paint that worked great on the black trim on my SC. Otherwise, just get some black Krylon. Remove the numbers,* sand, paint, replace.
*I used dental floss and mild heat to remove mine when I went from black to silver numerals.
I have silver numbers too, thought it looked a bit blingy, but used to them now
