Best Aluminum Cleaner
#1

While working on my son's project Camaro I found a recommendation at EDELBROCK for an aluminum cleaner.

It is Called OXISOLV.

http://www.oxisolv.com/html/aluminum.html

Has anyone used it?

Other recommendations for spring cleaning of the engine?

Thanks

Brian

Brian, for cleaning the engine I use Simple Green from Walmart. It is a common household solvent which is water soluble. Use it on a cold engine and rinse with low pressure water. I have not had to mask off or use plastic to protect anything in the engine compartment. For polishing aluminum I use Nevrdull. This is available from Pepboys. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

For cleaning and polishing untreated aluminum, and most unpainted metals:

1. Simichrome ... from Germany; can be hard to find... BUT the very best.

2. Flitz ... Second best choice...

i have a love/hate thing with simichrome - great stuff - hard to work with - getting that black stuff during the process off is a drag, but that is exactly why it works so well - it really gets in there - i used to get it at the bicycle shop

Simichrome is also stocked at some motorcycle dealerships. Don't ask me why.
