I bought a couple of cams and a variocam a couple months back. I was going to use them as exchange core(s) for a slightly modified cam. I got them out this week and the more I look at them, the more I'm thinking they are too good just to use as a core. My dilemma is they look like they have already been modified. Does anyone recognize if these are reworked? There are only a few grinders out there who specialize in this, so I'm hoping someone will recognize their work.
1) The exhaust cam has the 968 id ring and 275.10 so it's a 968 cam, The intake cam lacks the ID ring and the chain alignment indicator. The intake cam has a white dot on a a sprocket tooth which I believe is the alignment mark used by this cam maker. Both have some strange numbers stamped on the back face. See photos Intake end and exhaust end
2) Both look like the chain sprockets have been replaced and the the lobes have a dark grey appearance with none of the usual shiny spots from touching the followers.
3) Intake lift is .440 and exhaust is .394 - I can't seem to find what the original Porsche specs so would anyone know what the stock values are?
From the photos I have the intake cam indexed one tooth off, my error.
