the MBZ windshield was cracked by some rock or who-knows-what a couple of days ago, and then on a different highway a more painful result ( photo attached )

caused by another rock or who-knows-what...

I apparently did not sacrifice enough virgins for Atlas, the God of roadways and he dinged me twice.. in the same week ! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/mad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Dan I feel your pain... still... look at the bright side - compared to my embarassingly chipped and scraped wheels yours seem like Cindy Crawford with a beauty mark. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

well, the cindy crawford comment does make me feel better... but only a little. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

the last DIY using paint had disastrous results ( and that was on a plastic model ! ), so if I can get enough confidence to try something similar again,

I might give a shot ; the instructions make the job seem relatively easy.

And, if it does not turn out great, there's always Wheel Works and a few other places recommended by Porsche who'll do it for about $ 100.

I'm sorry to hear about (and see) your bad luck. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> Hurry, if you go make more sacrifices to the Porsche gods, maybe nothing further will happen. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

A 1,000 mi. drive coming up next weekend ( round trip mileage, that is ) so I'll wait until I return before making any repairs to the wheel, because the way things have gone lately I would not be surprised if I end up with the need for an additional "touch up" to the fender, or nose, or sideview mirror... I'm a magnet for

road hazards.

I saw something which almost made me cry this weekend...

We had our first DE of the year at Pocono Raceway...some people, who were Novices and had never driven on a racetrack, drove up the morning of the event...

They hit a pot hole on the NJ turnpike and bent a rim...failed tech inspection and couldn't do the event!

Bad luck on their first time out...I took them out in another car, so they could at least get a ride around the track.
