My Car was the Center of Attention, but
#1

I had lunch with my Sons yesterday at a high end restaurant in Birmingham. When we came out there were a couple of guys looking over every detail of my Cab. Just as I was about to walk over and answer any questions they had for the owner, in rolls a new black Lamborghini. I think it was Keith Askins who coaches with the Miami Heat. He goes quickly into the restaurant and I walk over to look at his car. The guys ask me if it was mine and I said, No, I just have that old Porsche over there. One of them was interested in buying a Porsche, so I tried to steer him towards a 968. Fun day!

A couple days ago, I was lounging at a coffee shop with Susanna enjoying some brew next to a video store. A pack of kids were first to check it out (eveyone feels the need to stare inside ) I must say, I was actually a bit relieved when they left it. Secondly, a man drove up to the video store, and promptly went over to my car and started checking out every detail. His face was even glued to my drivers side window (literally touching it with his hand to block the glare) for a couple minutes straight. As he was walking away, he repeatedly turned back to give it a look. 10 minutes later, he comes back out of the video store, and heads straight for my car again and spends another few minutes checking her over. It's nice to be an observer, when they don't know who or where the owner is.

I did feel uncomfortable with the guy touching the windows on her...maybe it reminds me of the time in my Santa Monica Apartment, I went down to the parking structure, to find two guys drooling over my bike, with one got sitting on it...sparks flew !!!! $&(#)@

Driving back from the airport on a nice day, but top up and stopped at a red light, I gaze to my right and see a very enthusiastic female driver in the next lane smiling and giving me a double thumbs up!!! only thing is she could have been my grandmonther.... sheesh, the luck of the draw!

Seriously though, I've had many people looking over the 968 and asking if this is the "new Porsche". The 968 is rare enough that few people see them around I guess.

the car in ferris bueler was actually a kit - nicely done too - almost bought one - stil might - it was made by modena classics - small block ford powered, fiberglass body - if you look closely, you will also notice an mgb rear deck lid

I had someone comment last week that they always wanted a Ferrari like that (as she pointed at the 968). I just smiled and said it is a fun car.

LOL, I'm wondering just how many peoples' heads ( not to mention parking valets in LA ) you'll be able to screw with if you put a Ferrari emblem in place of the hood crest for a few weeks ..

and considering the back has porsche embossed on it, one can always explain this is a rare Ferrari-Porsche limited production car that did not gain mass appeal due to its relatively high $275,000 sticker..

WHAT ?! If the Italians can work together with the French (Citroen-Maserati) is it that implausible they'd build a car with Germans ? Could happen.
