On 16.01.2011 most of the snow has dissappeared in Germany and the GP track was open together with the NoS.
I thought this might a good opportunity to start the season.
Result was as you can see below

A CS.....and my favorite color.....I could have gone without seeing that. I'm hurting for you. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
I did notice the beer on the table. Don't blame you - better get more.
Don't worry, it'll buff right out. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
I didn't take pictures of my car when I had a small altercation with the wall at one of our tracks. I had enough time to think about which way would cost the least and chose to go in sideways. Not sure if this was the right option, I got everything on the passenger side (RHD car). So, although the damage was not great and I only had two small dents, I still had to re-paint the following;
Front Guard
Front Splitter (the grave trap sand blasted it to hell)
Front Nose - got slight paint damage)
Mirror
Door
Stone Guard
Rear Quarter
Rear Bumper
Replace the front plastic grill as it was shattered by the gravel trap)
To match the two stone guards, I got the other side re-painted as well.
After the event I priced a new nose - $3,500 from Porsche.
The guys who did the repairs over here for me is an authorised Porsche repairer (it was not an insurance job), but he managed to "weld" the nose where the splitter cracked the air opening under the nose. So the damage to the nose might be able to be repaired rather than replace the nose (although parts might be cheaper in Europe).
I feel for you, but remember that once repaired, it will be in better cosmetic condition than prior to the event. We had once of our members in a Gen I 997 GT3 RS just touch the wall and split the rear bumper. His repair cost was about my car value - so from a motorsport viewpoint, my event was relatively cheap. Much better to be racing a car that is relatively inexpensive to repair.
I was chasing 0.1 seconds at Lakeside to get a lap under 1 minute. I have not been able to come within a second on my previous times and I am too cautious at the end of the straight (where I went off). So your confidence takes a hit and you need to gradually build it up.
Good luck fixing the car. It will be worth it. It is a gutting experience to have happen, but it is repairable.

Makes me want to slow down.
Sorry to hear and see this. What happen?
Man! Sorry to hear about the crash - that had to really s*ck big time! What's your plan?
I offer a toast to you for living the life with the 968 and for enjoying it to the fullest! Salut!

Amazing how "friends" can become "vultures", depending on the circumstances! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/laugh.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
(Just kidding PorscheG96! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> )
I agree that the picture was "painful" to see, but... fun comes with some pain attached at times!
PorscheG96- I'll buy the seat from you, how much do you want? Mmmm CS seats, drool.
We can have this car parted out to pay for the repairs in no time! <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/blink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
Thanks for your compassion.
How does it happen?
Was driving the tripple left after Bergwerk entering the Kesselchen where the car went to oversteer. Reacted a little to slow, touched the fence with front than crossed the road and touched the fence with the back.
Speed was about 100 mph
Are U OK ?
Yes, me and my co driver are very good.
What happens next?
Try to get are car for parts in england (they are cheap over there)
I want to by the seats
Sorry, not for sale
I am just glad that you are alright. Having recently had my 968 broken into you have my complete sympathy. It has been almost two months and I still do not have my car back. I hope your road to recovery goes much smoother than mine. Best of luck!
Brought the car today to the workshop.
Scheduled completion is 11 February 2011.
Let's see.
So sorry this happened. As long as you and your passenger are ok, thats all that matters at the end of the day. Cars can be replaced.
Darn, that means the seats are definitely off the table now <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/wink.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />
