Hi,all sorry I have not been on here in the last couple of days, I hope everyone is doing good.

Below is a link to a 968 that isbein sold not far from where I live in South Florida. It is at a smaller type dealer. Would appreciate the feedback. there are a ton of pictures. Car looks very good, but I know you guys here are the experts and can pic up on things.

The only thing that I noticed and it could just be from the way the pictures were taken is a difference in coloration or discoloration of the front bumber. The excess use of armorall on the dash and door sills.

The free carfax (semi/tease) report indicates 7 records found, but that does not tell me much.

VIN: WP0AA2962NS820273

Year/Make/Model: 1992 PORSCHE 968

Body Style: COUPE

Engine Type: 3.3L V6 FI

Manufactured In: GERMANY

Search Results: 7 records found in our database

What is a record?

IMPORTANT! The 7 records on this 1992 PORSCHE 968 may confirm a clean title history or uncover potential problems. Find out by ordering the complete CARFAX Vehicle History Report.
Hi Carlos -

Pretty strange carfax info first off, as it is not a 3.3L V6, it is a 3.0 Inline 4 (I4).

Red flag number one.

The second thing is, see if the car has any service records that came with it.

The third thing is, be absolutely certain that you have a pre-purchase inspection done at a reputable Porsche specialist shop. Do not use the shop the dealer recommends unless it turns out that it really is the area's number one Porsche specialist.

Once you get the results of that, let us know and we'll be able to give accurate opinions.

Oh yes, a "record" could be any number of things: a sale, a smog certification, an accident, etc.

Good luck!
Looks nice but pictures can be decieving.

Of the 7 records probably 2 of them are probably from the original purchase

a sample for you from one of my cars

Looks like it is amazon green. If so at this mileage the car looks to be a good value. Check to see if the timing and balance shaft belts have been replaced because if they haven't you'll need about $1000 to do them. Has anyone checked this car out in person? Option codes?
I received more info from the Dealer. Was anyone able to take a look at the Carfax to very the One Owner statement.

This is what the dealer is stating:

This is a one owner car, complete with all of the service records and

EVERYTHING it came with from the factory and then some. We have car covers,

bras, mirror protectors... even the white detailing gloves and the gloves

and rag to check the oil in the car with from Porsche. The car came with a

framed picture of itself! We have a PILE of service records, complete!

Timing belt was done at just under 31,000 miles. The car is most definitely

worth coming out to take a look at. You just don't find cars like this.

Period.

they are out there - sounds good - pics look good - i'd take a look
Amazon Green/Cashmere is my paint/interior combination. It is very attractive and gets many compliments. This car has full power seats, rather than just up and down. A nice option. Otherwise the car seems fairly stock. Nice low miles. If I was looking this car would be worth a PPI and then maybe a plane ticket!

The front bumper is plastic where the adjacent fenders and hood are steel. Mine is showing a bit of fade. And while my car has 50k more miles it has not seen that much sun so I would not be too concerned about that unless it is worse in person.

A few questions come to mind after looking at the pictures:

I wonder what the extra non-stock switches are on the console. Perhaps an aftermarket alarm and something else?

I also wonder why the front tow hook cover is off. This could hint that the vehicle was towed recently. Is the hook still in the tool bag?

Do you want to share the asking price?

One last thing - do not forget the 'Flash rule' of buying a 968: Assume that you will spend $2k in the first year just doing routine maintenance fixing small things and getting the car the way you want it - no matter how nice the car is when you buy it.

Good Luck!
Definately looks and sounds worth a serious look and a PPI. Beautiful color combination and very low miles. Good luck, Bob Blackwell.
Re the comment "they are out there", the June issue of the northern NJ PCA region monthly magazine has a 1995 white/midnite blue cab listed with - get this - 19k miles. Asking price is - and get this - $28,750. If anyone's interested, I can provide more details.
if it was a different color scheme, i'd be looking at it - i'm going to buy a couple more - one to moth ball and one to convert to a race car - not in any hurry by any means, but always keeping my eye out
Thanks for all the reply's. The asking price is listed on the web site, advertised as "Internet Special $19,995.00". But if I recall correctly, I also saw the same car listed at another website, for I believe it was $21K.

NADA prices a car like this at around $16K. Edmunds TMV gives it $11. Kelly Blue Book has it at $13K. What do you think? Lately I have been paying more attention to the pricing on convertibles rather than those of coupes.

I does have theh LSD option, what type of value does this add?

RPM - I take it the front towing hook is right in the middle of the front fender? Those swithches do look like an alarm, but I though it may also be something related to the "Miami Vice" style hands free phone hookup. Is this a factory option or aftermarket? I amthinking it may be volume swith and a light indicator, when the phone rings, sort of like the Batman,s Bat Phone.

Questions on 92's 968's. Is there something that makes this year worth more than others, or are they all preety much around the same price, taking into account that a 95 is newer than a 92?

Since it will be Fathers Day this weekend, I think I can get away to see this car. Happy Fathers Days to all the father in this forum. And again thanks for all your responses and help.
Low mileage cars do exist... this is a 95 968 Coupe from a P car show in 2005. 3rd owner, first time P car owner. Here's the story:

1st owner won the car in 1995 in a raffle. Lived downtown and walked to work. In 10 years, she put 9,000 klms (about 5,500 miles!) on the car! Otherwise it stayed parked in an underground parkade.

2nd owner bought it for his wife. She drove in 6,000 klms (3,800 miles) over 4 years but found the car too low! Hence it went up for sale.

3rd owner found it in a local AutoTrader magazine! Still has it now, still low miles. He had the belts done when he bought the car and it still looks & smells brand new. Mileage was only 16,401 kls (=10,200 miles)
Gee, I wonder if my car - with nearly 140k miles on it - will look anything like this when I get it reassembled with a new dash and a clean vanity cover.
Probably not since you have different wheels.
beautiful car. Abso-lutely stunning. *drool*

If this car was around 6 months ago I would be all over.

LSD was a $1000 option guys? it's fun to have. I have te clutch-type on mine.

price seems high but if it's in that good condition. . . plus low mileage. . . you're not getting taken to the cleaners that's for sure.

Guys - am I right in thinking - this low mileage, if it's been sitting for a long time - potential leaking due to dried out rubber bits?

good luck Carlos - if that's the color combo / bodystyle you want, then I say BUY THE PUPPY
Is the 10,200 mile car for sale?

I'm no expert, but I do have a '92 and I am a regualr reader of this list so I must know something...

the '92 is not worth more than any other year - basically they are the same car 92 through 95 - but here *are* small changes that make a difference to some - others don't care:

-recessed hood badge in front and flat 968 letters on the back in the very early 92's

-engine trim that disapeared mid-'93

-little drain holes top of the strut mounts that appeared after '92 (mine fill up with water with every wash and require a towel-dry to keep the strut nuts from rusting).

-different location of engine radiator bleed screw - much more convenient after 1993

-rolled exhaust tip disappeared after 1992

-R12 changed to 134A in 1993

I'm sure there are more tiny differences, but you get the drift.
There is a 1 month gap in the middle of this thread.

Carlos - did you look at the car and what happened?
Sorry for beingaway for so long. Right now the plans to buy my 968 is on hold the real estate venture were I was going to get the money to fund the purchase has hit a slow down. As many may know the real estate market has almost come to a complete stop. Instead of selling the investment property I am renting it for at least a year. I tried to convince my wife to get the funds from one of our other real estate investment, but she wouldn't go for it.

I am not going to torture myself with looking at cars that I can not buy, so I have stayed away from looking. It's going to e a long year waiting....
