Let me start by saying I still have my 968 and it's running great. I had it out this morning for its annual NC state inspection. It passed with flying colors, as always (Eat your heart out, Anchorman).

However, I have been having lots of issues with my '99 Audi Quattro Avant (wagon). It had about 106k miles and stuff, all kinds of it, kept breaking. It wasn't the cheap stuff, either. I was tired of it, too. I needed a change.

So, sitting next to my black on black '93 968 coupe is my new '07 triple black Mustang GT convertible. Manual tranny, of course. Very nice. The first thing you notice about it, though, is that it's really a big car. In spite of its size and weight and the big V-8, I got about 24 mpg on my commute on Friday. Not too bad.
This new retro mustang has really gotten a good chunk of the market. You should have a ton of go fast mods at your disposal and seeing as it is domestic, the cost shouldn't be too hard to swallow.

Oh, and ahhh, PICS PICS PICS PICS!
Don't know what shifter comes stock on the GT, but the Hurst one on the Shelby is sweet.

My 968 has passed emissions (with a "new" cat) and will soon pass "rear visibility" with the new top - to be followed by a paint job. Interestingly, my wife - who has been pushing for the paint job - just suggested that I get another car so that I don't have to subject the "new" 968 to the wear and tear of daily use. So, I'm thinking about what I'd get. I'd want something that's really winter-capable, so an off-lease Audi S4 seems to be a possibility. Hmmm...
lol - we are considering the exact opposite, since ayn no longer commutes and is taking the train - the drive to the station, on days she doesn't walk, is a whopping 1 mile

the need for the "sensible" 325i convertible, albeit fully loaded and 5-speed, is now a moot point, and as we have the denali for "sensible", we are considering something more fun for the 3rd car

she insists it be a manual trans ragtop - thinking maybe a DB7 - nothing else has really caught us yet
Good deal, Anchorman, on your inspection and good luck with the paint job. I like Audi A4s a lot. Drove a couple and almost bought. If you can get the newer one with the 2.0L Turbo engine and 6-speed TipTronic it's really sweet.

Flash, I should have told you I was thinking about a convertible with four chairs. I also could have bought Gene's cab (it's a beauty) but I really do need the seating.

The standard GT Premium shifter is not the really cool Hurst shifter mentioned but it ain't bad. It's a big brushed aluminum ball. It gets hot as #@!! in the sun, though. I haven't gotten my custom-fit sunshade yet.
