This is my third Porsche with belts that need adjusting. <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/sad.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> I would like to "learn" how to use the tool and replace/retension the timing and balance belts so I can do it on my own.
What I'm wondering is that if there's anyone in Texas with a tool and the knowledge and has all the special tools for belt changes and re-tensioning, I'd like to show up and learn how to replace the belts and retension them.
Afterwards, I'd purchase all the tools I need and be able to do it on my own. Not so much to save money but just to be assured that it's done perfectly. Even Porsche Mechanics don't treat the cars like their own!
Anyone out there willing to help?

Which brings me to what the local P-car shop said yesterday. They've been in business since '61 and they're exact words were "Like yeah right, you're gonna trust what Porsche says about their auto-adjuster"?
What's the general concensus on the forum about the auto-adjusters? Have folks here actually checked to see if the auto adjuster is keeping the belt tensioned correctly?
