Hello everyone,

I recently had a new Blaupunkt radio installed, and Im pretty sure that they didnt hook up the antenna booster. Id love to do this on my own, but Im not sure where the booster is at. I have a 94 coupe. Does anyone have a pic of where it is at , or a great description??

i've not actually seen it in the hardtop, but have been told it's at the base of the antenna

however, where they probably blew it was the wire behind the deck that is supposed to be connected to the power antenna/remote turn on lead of the deck

The newer Blaupunkts tend to have a problem with out antennas from what I have seen.

I find, in general, that the whole series 944, S2, 968 has lousy radio reception even with the booster. First thing I checked on my S2 because of bad reception but the booster was hooked up and active. My 968 is also poor with it's little off horizontal whip - no Rf gain in that baby even with the booster.

I think the booster is located on the passenger side footwell area.
Up and to the right of the airbag.
I think you can get to it easily by removing the glove box.

On the Coupe, it is directly below the antennae behind the headliner. I'd check to make sure the remote power lead s connected at the rear of the head unit. Same crappy reception problem in my coupe and new head unit arrived today so I plan to address that issue soon!

I too was wondering about the BMW sharkfin. Did you look into see if it would attach/match our cars OK?

I seem to struggling with radio reception unless a very strong local signal, connecting and disconnecting the power wire to the booster seems to make no difference, is that what others find or is there likely to be a fault?

I installed a double din Pioneer unit and originally did not attach the wire for the booster, and it didn't receive at all. I went back and attached it and now it works marginally well...receives the local channels, but doesn't do as well as the stock head unit. When I was home for christmas break I saw a black 968 in Chapel Hill, NC with a shark fin antenna on it...

well I think I may have found one of the reasons for the poor performance, if the booster is supposed to be in the roof under the aerial then there isn't one [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif[/img] . Maybe because it's a Club Sport, I did see a code on the options list that reads 'reduced radio kit' or similar.



Ignore above I now realise booster is part of the aerial and it's definitely not working, from the UK 968 site it seems a common fault so I'll be off shopping then
