Hi Forum,
This will be my third Porsche, having previously owned a 924 and a 944.
I currently live in the Dominican Republic where I work as an aircraft engineer . I am British and have the fortunate position of being able to live as an expat in paradise whilst continuing my profession with a UK charter airline. My passion has always been cars and since living here, I thought I would no longer be able to pursue that passion as classic cars do not exist here except for a few very overpriced filler filler old American trucks. However last week my father saw an ad for a 1992 968 cabrio being sold by an American expat. He lives inland and the road that leads to his house was so bad that you needed a 4x4 to get to it. He hadn't driven his Porsche for over a year.
So my father (who now lives with me) and I decided to buy it. He is also a car nut and has restored several classics in Kenya. But he has now left Africa to come and live here in the Caribbean.
The cars needs complete restoration as nothing works! Although, luckily the engine is sweet and there is no corrosion, thanks to the galvanising in Weissach. The wiring has been completely Dominicanised and none of the electrics work.
If there is enough interest I will post photos of our progress.
Cheers
Alex and Rex (son and father)
