An affordable coast-to-coast car carrier?
#1

I found a nice, unmolested 1989 944 Turbo in Oregon and decided to buy it for DE use (my 968 cab can now relax a little). The next challenge is to get the 944T to Connecticut w/out breaking the bank. Does anyone know a reputable and affordable car carrier with coast-to-coast service? <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/cool.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

I used an independent several years ago and he was cheap and excellent, but he lost his commercial license because of a couple of DUIs in his personal car. Great way to ruin your life, huh?

I sold my wife's 928 several years back, and they shipped it from IN to Hollywood, CA. Did a fine job. IIRC, it was about $1,000.00

Of course, I think it may be dependent on which Trucker you are lucky enough to get... but if price is the issue, I would try them.

I used Dependable Auto Shippers based on a forums recommendation.

They got my 968 from Florida to Norcal in about a week, with online tracking, no problems.

same as Sean ( used DAS ). very happy with the entire transport care, tracking, etc.. but as I recall it cost about $ 1,500 just from Colorado to California, so not all that cheap..

it's tough - gas prices have really jacked shipping rates

i believe it was DAS that left gene's car sitting outside for 3 weeks

There a difference between "affordable" and "reliable." It's a gamble on the lower priced carriers. Do a Rennlist search and you'll see lots of horror stories.
