Definately drilling the air box per Flash/Greimann...$10/10HP

By all means look into RS barn performance (They are a sponsor on the right of the screen)

With the air box mod, rs barn stage 2 chip, rs barn cat back exhaust, hi flow cat and headers, you are looking at 285hp for under $3k. After that, you can add the Flash's chassis brace and the other stuff..

I know that Flash has a post with his accelerometer showing 285, but I doubt very much that Pete will claim that much of a jump with his stage II setup and the airbox mod. At least the dyno charts Pete shared with me don't show it.

Having said that, I'm happy with the mods that I've done (increased air flow, headers, stage II chip, no cat, high-flow exhaust).

I'm assuming that 285 is an estimated engine HP, correct? Wheel HP would be around 240-ish using the generic 15% power loss. Considering the factory turbo is around 300 engine HP? Not bad for natural aspiration! I think it' worth the money

I don't believe Pete claims that for the Stage 2 but it would be close at the Stage 3.

The RS Barn Header, catback, airbox mod and chip all work together. This probably gets you about 260- engine hp. When you add the cams it is more like 275. This close to 40hp and 35 ft/lbs of torque increase.

Thanks for clarifying the numbers Pete. By the way, I ran with the stage two this weekend and loved it. The first session out there was a stumble around 3.5 to 4.0k but then dissapeared, go figure At any rate, with my weight and my mods, I can now hang down the straight with 90% of the cars. No I can't hang with a new Z06 or 996 Turbo, but an E46 M3 can't pull me by an inch up to at least 120 mph.

don't know about that - i did runs each and every time i made a mod, beginning with stock, which astoundingly gave me the factory specced 236, and they went consistently up with each and every mod - the dyno runs supported the numbers too

those g-tech devices are actually amazingly accurate, if you input the right info - the tolerance is 1% - that means between 283 and 288, if the weight figure, from which i started, is accurate - they say to use the weight on the door sticker - i then corrected for weight reductions, and followed the instructions to the letter from there

we saw dyno results of over 260 with previous chip and airbox alone - the header was good for another 10+, and the chip added even more - that's well over 270, even on the conservative side

i think pete is being intelligently cautious in his estimations, and commend him for not jumping the gun - i look forward to seeing the data

at any rate, it's a bunch of fun, and i'm really glad this stuff is out there

Ok, I've searched this site for info on performance cams, but it didn't really answer my question. How are the performance cams offered by RS Barn differnt than stock? Someone mentioned them being longer, which would indicate valves stay open longer? Thus allowing more air / fuel able to enter the chamber = more power?

As far as that custom intake manifold, is that still being prototyped? Any estimates on how it will help performance over the stock intake manifold?

i don't think pete is quite ready to give specifics online yet - it gets too easily into a free-for-all that gets very confusing for everyone

give him a shout though - he's happy to talk on the phone about the stuff

A quick question: compared to stock, how is the fuel milage with all these performance parts? Better? Worse?

directly related to the extra fun - you will find the floor more often, and then consequently have to find the gas station more often
