Stock speed gears
#1

http://www.968forums.com/uploads/monthly_0...-1235240048.jpg

My acceleration is a little off from this chart. My 68 is stock and I understand that there's a loss of power over the years. But 70 mph in 2nd?

Is anyone actually getting these numbers?

if you look closely, in stock form it would only do about 60 in 2nd (6700 redline)

that being said, i can do about 70 in 2nd if i tach it out, but i'm not inclined to do that

I test this all the time - I redline almost exactly at 30mph increments in every gear , all the way to 150 shifting into 6th. It still pulls in 6th beyond 150 but
conks out around 165 + mark.. However, it should be noted that's based on the speedometer reading so I have no idea what the exact max speed in each gear is in real life if you factor in the various speedometer error deltas.
Btw, this is at 100k miles on the engine, but with chip, air box and catback mods.

After looking back at the chart I noted that also. Without the chip my limiter will not allow me to hit 7grand. So I need to follow that line down to around 63mph.

BTW I think you might even get a little more then 70mph in 2nd. If that gear was designed to move the stock weight up to 70mph, with your mods and weight reduction, chances are youll pass it.

Funny, I don't recall hearing about you entering any DEs Dan.

So can you do 70 in 2nd? And where in the RPM range do you shift?

The Xracer chip will let me go to 7800 rpm, but I have only taken it there once. I hesitate to go beyond 7,000, and even at that rpm it's useless because based on the dyno chart ( did some pulls after I installed the chip ) my power curve stops at 6800 rpm and I gain nothing going beyond that so no point really.. Still, I shift right around 7k.

70 in 2nd ? I think 63 or 64, maybe is the most I might get around 6800 rpm

DE- I tracked the car once but it's not my cup of tea: I like solo runs on an oval track going as fast as the car will allow but can't find the place and event
where I can indulge in that
