a kink in the plan

Craig,

I'm confused by the first sentence of your post. First you say you're kicking yourself about not upgrading the rods, then you say the combination of the lower compression ratio, not too much advance, the intercooler, and upgraded rods will help. Did you stay with the original rods, or go to some sort of upgrade? I went with Pauter Forged rods, per Mike Lindsey's recommendation, along with Wossner pistons. I'm staying normally aspirated, though, so the rods were probably overkill.

Craig's car is a 1995 with the 2R rods, these were developed in response to bending of the 1R rods in the 968 and 928GTS.

actually they were in response to a stretching, not bending problem. that's why the bottom end where the bolts are is where they beefed it up. the upper portion is unchanged and still the weak spot.

i'll get pics tomorrow night when i get back. i am consolidating runs to the builder and that's when i get to go poke around in the motor again.

I recall the 2R rods are fatter in the transition between the beam and the big end:

At the risk of repeating myself too often let me say AGAIN to Flash what a great job. I'm even gonna say"AWESOME DUDE" ( I'll have nightmares now!) Really who else would even move their arse to do half of what Flash does. And what's the response, guys bricking it about "is my car safe"? Of course it is! Bob would never have sold any kit otherwise. My jaw dropped when I read this topic. I couldn't believe that even Bob would go this far. Above and beyond my man!
