A Close Call
#1

So I try to make it a habit to ride my bicycle 10 miles every day for the sake of good fitness and health. I usually prefer to go at night since (ASmile it's cooler and (BSmile it fits into my schedule better. It was Friday night of last week. I was feeling pretty good and pedaling hard on my red Cannondale M300 mountain bike...after all, it was a Friday. I was on a street by the name of Citrus in Eastvale (Corona), CA...which has a limited number of street lamps. I was about 2.5 miles into my ride at about 9:00pm, the moon was out and the air had the sweet smell of cow manuer since I was riding by one of the local dairies. I'm traveling eastbound, with the dairy to my right, and residential to my left. I entered a narrow section of the road which had not yet been widened. I see a car pull up to the stop sign exiting the residential community to my front left about 60ft in front of me. I think to my self that the headlights almost seem familiar in a sporty european way. As I continue along, the $*#&% pulls right out in front of me cutting me off and nearly offroading me into a ditch. As I regain focus and control, I stare at the #&$*@ and what do I see. Familiar curves, rectangular rear lights, hatchback, A BLACK 968 COUPE. How many people can say they were almost taken out by a 968 that they weren't occupying? I would personally rather go while IN a 968. The fella drove off at a reasonable speed which would seem to insinuate he just didn't see me.

Oh, by the way, if you're a member of the forum, feel free to speak up now At least someone would be local.

Are you pulling our collective legs..? What are the odds of that happening... Perhaps the guy was chat'n on his phone[?].

I bike a lot too, but not at night - I've been almost hit a few times in full daylight. I hope you were at least wearing a light colored shirt...

Tonight on my way back from the hardware store in my Hyundai, I decided to pull into that street that I saw him pull out of last Friday night. I zig-zagged through many streets and cul-de-sacs to finally see the car parked on the side of the road. It looks to be in rough condition (wearing it's inflatable spare, primer patch on drivers rear quarter, etc) but hey, it's a 968. I would have stopped to say hi and inform him/her of the forums, but I'll wait till I'm in my 968. I'm glad my eyes weren't deceiving me, bad enough I see them in my sleep
