Another random hot air issue.
#1

I'm having a similar issue I've seen on other forums, but I haven't seen anyone solve it. I recently changed my Air/Heat control unit out. This seemed to fix an odd clicking noise I was hearing with the A/C on, and I would feel hot air from time to time with the A/C on. 50% fix, but I'm still having a very strange issue. I saw a post back from 2015, with no answer.

With the system off, fan set to zero with no A/C. I get hot air intermittently through the center dash and footwell. Then it goes away. I can see the mixer door opening and closing on its own, which means the mixer door solenoid is moving on its own, with no command. Something is wonky. I've checked the clip, as per good ole Clark's Garage (bless that man). Everything is intact in the driver side footwell.

Has anyone ever troubleshot and changed the interior tempurature sensor, the one with the little tube (beside the cig lighter) leading to it? Where is it located, is it hard to change? Anybody else have any ideas. I'm really at a loss here.

You Can see the solder connections for the Thermistor

3 In the Central Mixer Chamber of the heater unit,

could not find a picture of that one, but the repair kit is $100 (PCG 653 121 00)

you need to remove the air vents to see the sensor, so the speedo surround and air vents

there is a test proceedure on clarkes for all these

now they are all the same Thermistor,

RS Components

RS 697-4465

or ND03N00103J

all replacable with a bit of dexterity

Thanks Waylander,

I removed the interior air sensor behind the glove box. The element inside the tube was so dirty and the fan was crudded up with black dust and junk. I cleaned it out and the fan looks new. Did you put the old one back in when you cleaned it, or did you order a new one? The solders actually look ok to me.  I ordered a used one just in case, we'll see. Can't believe it's no longer available (944 624 013 00).

Waylander, appreciate the tech support as always. Sensor back in the car...so far so good. Took it for a long test drive last night.
