I'm not a big fan of it myself. Figured I would do a search and there is very little that comes up when searching for 968. Might not be a bad way to advertise RSbarn or Design1 Racing though. ???

FB is for showing everyone you grew up with how much better you are than they are and playing Texas hold'em.

I also don’t care for it.

Had a co-worker send me an invite and I signed on using one of my throw away email addresses. The one thing I liked at first I quickly started to hate. That is how the program grabs users from your school within the time you attended so that you could add them as friends. The bad side was they saw me too. I got 21 invites in 2 days from people I could care less about. I see people doing this at work all the time. So time consuming. Wait a min.. I'm on a forum all day.

I got pulled into it by my wife... I go on once and a while to play games. I prefer Linkedin as a networking tool because you can see what everyeone does for a living and if they are helpful to your career in any way or if they know someone who knows someone.

just had a page created - not setting it up for viewing - really did it so the name doesn't get snatched - we don't want to use facebook - it would only dilute what we are doing here

lol - this is a very polarized thing to be sure - personally i don't network, and when i do it's at a convention or something and done in person - i get that some people do this electronic thing, but it seems incredibly lazy and impersonal to me - besides, i really don't want any more business - i'm trying to retire more than work more - i'm pushing 50 and it's time to slow down and enjoy life - i'll never fully stop working, but i certainly don't want to expand things all that much

i think the search engines will do much more for this site than networking sites would, and we certainly don't want to see splintering of the community - there is enough of that going on now

Facebook has had me communicate with my nieces more in the last 6 months than in the first 20+ years of their lives. Also keep in touch with several former coworkers in different parts of the country through it. It has it's uses.

You know what is fun? ending a relationship on Facebook. Nothing like breaking up with someone by pushing a button. No gray area there (ask me how I know). Facebook is what you make it. It can help you find old friends or it can severely mess with your life.

968 forums is a great, simple resource and community the way it is. Besides, I'd hate to have to break up with you guys because you didn't like my mods.

there was a string of samples compiled into a " what NOT to post of facebook " making the email rounds in the last couple of days, I wish I could copy it and post it here but it's way too long. suffice it to say, like anything else nowadays that you put up on any puiblic site it can, and will come back to bite you in the a** , so be careful out there.. Yeah, I started the 968 page on Facebook... just for fun. It has a link for 968Forums, but also has other basic info as well. Not much traffic on it.

If I have not talked to someone in twenty years, no need to start again.
If they mattered in my life, or me in theirs, I would not have lost touch.

One funny thing is, I was contacted by a RL member to continue his threats.
He was flying under the radar of the forum.
What a twit!
