if nothing else, i see the new site as a vehicle whereby we will be allowed to talk to some people to whom we can't on rl - this in turn will likely result in many finding their way over here

all good

Thanks for letting everyone know that 968.net has been resurrected by Ray. Between Forums, Rennlist, 968Register.net and now 968.net - that should be enough 968 info for anyone!

Perhaps a little too much. Seems like a futile effort to even bother starting again.
The past is the past and now is gone.

Although forums was not the first, I think this will always be the best place. It's more like a liberary.
Everything is easy to find. (and there's allot of info, facts and DIY's)

The 968 community seems pretty small to fragment into multiple sources for info sharing. I think we would all benefit by working together in one place.

Some people in other forums don't seem to share those same sentiments, which is why you dont see them posting here and subliminally bash this place elsewhere. I've already seem this happen on .net by a certain member who ventured over there from RL.

I don't frequent a whole lot of other forums very regularly (only when I have a specific issue with something), so I don't have a good feeling for this sort of thing, but it strikes me as kind of silly for a car that was produced in such miniscule volumes (not because Porsche wouldn't have gladly sold a whole bunch more of them) to have so many forums devoted to it (I'm including the 968 section of Rennlist). I mean, come on, how much is there to talk about on a 968? But it's a free country, so I guess people are free to create twenty different forums if they desire, but again, but it just seems silly. This place is great, so I have no intention of signing up on 968.net, though I'm sure I'll check in from time to time out of curiosity.

Jay- post #19 "...when 968 worlds collide."

Seriously, can anyone create a graph or chart comparing the 968 worlds. How many different 968 worlds are there? Maybe someone could write a song and we could all sing it at Hershey?

"I predict that as more 968 sites increase, and the number of actual 968 vehicles decrease, there will soon be a website for each car remaining in the world.... "

I've also taken one (quick) look at .net and will not be signing up. No need, Forums provides all of the 968 content and information I might want...and I don't need the other stuff.

If I might - and I emphasise with tremendous TREPIDATION - recommend that the business of 968.net simply remain there. Although I know that this thread is really just the result of simple curiosity at the resurrection of something that died an extremely tortuous death, the proverbial Phoenix has risen from the ashes. Let it do so. It is not a hanging crime. The crime would be if shots start being taken back and forth to the mutual detriment of both net and forums. It is what it is. And it will be what it can be. Take the high road - the view is better there. I have rejoined net, largely because I was a member there before being one here, but currently it has little to really offer. And maybe it never will. But who knows? I sign in every day to see. Groovy. Remember that you don't need to join. As for there being more than one forum? I have 4 Porsches. No need of that either. Isn't free choice a wonderful thing?

I am now going to put on my asbestos suit in case the fireworks start.

no fireworks here - i have pretty much assumed exactly the position you have - i'm just watching, and hopeful that it will perhaps forms some bridges

by the looks of things here lately, it already has - we have a number of new members, and a return of some that have not been around for a long time

I hope no one took my comments in post #32 seriously, or anything else I have ever said for that matter....

Kim-

You are a wise sage. You hit the bullseye and I hope that everyone will read your post and carry on in that manner.

I joined 968.net and hope to participate in meaningful dialogue. My position past and present is that a 968 owner, regardless of ethnicity, race (I mean like at a track), creed, gender(s), choice of beer (even if it's not German), etc., will be treated as an old friend, even at point of introduction.

I definately did not take your comments seriously Scott. Actually made me think of a couple of Steven Hawking quips.

In his best Mac voice....

"We used to think that we were at the center of the solar system, then at the center of the universe. We now know that we are on the edge of a small galaxy on the egde of our known universe..."

or, my personal favorite

"A black 968 is infinitely small and infinitely dense..."

My true feelings on this are;

it is beyong pointless to revive .net

This is a small group of enthusiasts. less the 5K cars were made & the enthusiast group who actually post only number in the hundreds. All the information one could want could be found on 1 968 Forum. This one.

I used to own an E30 M3, a car which was also produced for 4 model years, albeit in ever so slightly greater numbers. The enthusiast base is much larger then the 968's & there is only 1 forum for that car. Acura sold 10,000 NSX's in North America and again, only 1 forum for that car. The NSX also has a much larger enthusiast base then the 968.

This is utterly pointless imho. And while, having more resources is always a welcome thing , i don't see any value in having yet another forum when two already exist. The fact that this forum has an extensive library on all things 968, makes it even more pointless. I don't see where this is going, but i already did see subliminal bashing of this forum by an RL member.
