968 Guestmap
#1

Guestmaps are currently all the rage amongst internet trolls. So, I thought it would be fun to do one for the 968 community. All you need to do is visit the link below center the map on your location by drag-clicking then slowly zoom in and repeat centering until you are as accurate enough on your location as you feel comfortable sharing, then click and creat your marker. You can look at my marker for an example of what to put.

ps. Other p-cars are free to join in on the fun but owners should include their model type in the message area of their marker.

EDIT: Update link to the new URL for the updated myguestmap ISP.

Hmm, don't think it can be adjusted. I will delete your mark and you can just make a new one.

Added a marker for the 2006 968 Celebration - Newtown, PA...pretty close, I think

Hey, what happened to the 968 Guestmap? I used to love looking at the map and seeing where everybody was located. Let me guess, it was the trolls? Damn them! It would be nice to setup up a 968 guestmap that coincided with the 968 registry. Safety would obviously be a concern but it would be interesting to see all the 968's around the world especially here in the US.

Thanks for the heads-up, the addy was just changed to a new ISP because too many trolls eat bandwidth too fast, heh. I guess the link forwarding the old URL to the new one no longer is working. I have updated the link above. Remember there is no need to give your exact location if you are uncomfortable doing so, so security doesn't have to be an issue.

BTW--I would like to issue a challenge to see who can locate the factory that gave birth to our machines. Also feel free to add any other places of interest to the 968 owner should one get bored and have bunches of time to play with the map. Sponsors should feel free to add their places of business etc.

I'm on the map. The level of detail is very impressive. However, the image of my neighborhood was made prior to 2005, as my neighbor still has an asphalt driveway (it's white concrete now). In fact, it looks like the gravel parking space in front of my house is not there, which dates the image to the middle of 2001 or earlier. Still, the level of detail is amazing. I don't know if I could recognize my 968 in the image but my Mazda pickup would be recognizable.

I'm a bit ticked off that the members of the new site have felt it that it was OK to post this map on that site. After all, who knows what sort of people hang out there.

I must apologize Jay; it was I that posted it there and could not for the life of me remember where I got the link from (found it today while searching for other things here). Just wanted to get 968ers to add to it. Again I apologize and will go and let them know where it started.

ps.. PLEASE lets not start bashing people. Eric started this site to stop it and they moved to that site to stop it. It's a small 968 world and that sort of thing only makes it samller.

I was being tongue in cheek and hope that it will be taken that way. I really wish we could be one happy community and share all of the wealth of knowledge about our very unique cars in the most cicvilized way.

I'm certain that many of the folks on the new board are fine upstanding people...by the same token, there are some who have gone out of their way to say disrespectful things about this site and it's sponsors.

They have a right to do whatever they want with their new site and invite or deny membership to anyone they want, as long as they fill their site with their own content.

Off my soap box,

Jay
