Blue Porsche 968 Firehawk

 

This car can be looked at in two ways, as a re-tubbed original 968 Firehawk race car, or a 968 with a perfect tub that was brought up to full 968 Firehawk standard.

 

Originally this car was raced in the 94-96 Firehawk series.  After a hard life as a pro-level car, it was relegated to other racing duties and eventually found its way to Utah.  In a race at Miller Motorsports Park, the car was hit bending the front severely.  With all of the other bends and bondo from a life as a pro car, it was decided that straightening the existing tub was not the best option. 

 

A roller ’92 968 was located and stripped down to its shell.  The roll cage was professionally removed and welded in the new tub.  In the process additional plates were added to the cage so it mounted more securely to the body.  Once this was completed, everything that made it a race car was moved from the old tub to the new tub.  A Maaco paint job later (hey, it was a ’92 roller), and this classic Firehawk car was back on the track in better shape than it had been in fifteen years.

Beyond those listed there are countless other upgrades and mods to make the car faster, and the driver’s life easier.  The engine’s upper end was recently thoroughly gone through including a refurbished water pump, seals, new lifters, a new timing chain and guides, and a new widefire Motorsport race head gasket.  The engine has only had a couple of hours on it since this was done.  As part of normal maintenance the rod bearings are being replaced prior to the sale, so the engine will be as fresh as possible.  The engine has seen Red Line Race Oil exclusively for the past several years as they are a very generous sponsor of our racing activities.

 

The livery is a wrap, so it can be changed easily.  The blue was matched to a can of Valspar paint from Lowes, so touch up is rattle-can away.  This color was chosen as it is was the closest to Mobil blue.  The small panel behind the front driver's side wheel will be replaced prior to delivery.  This car is left hand drive.

 

Title is clear and in the VIN of the new tub.  This car is no longer street legal!
