968 Back Home - Basalt is awesome!!
#1

Well the 968 is back home in the garage. Complete re-paint and color change to Basalt Black. It looks fantastic. Here are a few pics, the one of the mirror shows the color best.

Man, that looks pretty. Makes me wish someone would vandalize my paint. (No, I don't intend to engage in insurance fraud.)

It is a current Porsche color. I had a Cayenne on order in Basalt Black and ended up cancelling the order when I found a great deal on a used one.

If you don't mind me asking, and you certainly do not need to divulge, but I am curious how much it cost to do a repaint? One thing I have always loved about Porsches is how they just seem to be dipped in a rich thick paint!

Beautiful and EVERYONE knows that black cars are the fastest!

You can ask. I had a friend do the work who paints cars for a living at a GM dealership, and he has his own paint shop at home. His dealership said the job would have cost roughly $7k, [the Porsche paint alone was expensive], but of course I worked a deal with my buddy. It was a complete repaint, one of my other posts has pictures. Every body part was removed, all new gaskets and seals were installed and the hood and decklid were ground down to metal, as the old clearcoat had cracked.

My Dad always says, "if you are going to do it, do it right."

Looks like you did, thanks for the info and congrats on your "new" car!
