95 Cab inside trunk wet
#1

After getting my 968 on April 19 I started exploring. I took out the trunk carpet and the area behind the passenger side wheel well had about 4 inches of water. The spare tire area was dry. The foam rubber mat in the trunk was also saturated. I have finally got it all dry but have not tried pouring water to find out the source.

The trunk gasket rubber is fine but not glued down. There is also a tube in the trunk drain well and at thetop ther is osme rubber material that looks as if an attempt was made to stop the leak.

My car was shipped from Portland to Phila and I don't know how much rain it was exposed to during the trip.

Any input would be appreciated.

I had this happen to me. there is a drain tube that gathers rain water from the rim around the trunk area. Check the hose to be sure that it seals at the starting point and that it is not clogged The hose should exit through a hole in the bottom of the compartment to the road.

Usually sealing it against the body with rtv and cleaning it out will fix the problem.

P.S. If all else fails, seal off the opening of the top of the tube and let the water run outside the car and find it's way off the rear of the car.
