Chain places like in-n-out burger or chipotle, or subway, which I do think are the best of their respetctive genre, would still not be anything I would go to unless there was nothing better around for miles and I had a craving at the time for a quick burger, or a burrito, etc..( which does happen on occasion ) but I really wish I could drink a beer while sitting down and munching on one of those meals..it's a pain to get the meal as take out and then drive around looking for a place that sells wine or beer and eat in the car :-) :-) .the food gets cold. Although I've done that as well, lol.
As for the $ 9,000 meal, my thoughts were the same as paulzebo's post . But I suspect anyone who shelled out that kind of money for a dinner , even if it was just a one time charity thing, probably does not think about the 968 you could buy instead , and drove to the restaurant in their Rolls, or Bentley, or Maybach, or were chauffeured in a limo, to dine there. The bus boys or dish washers at Old Homestead on the other hand , may look up to 968s as a dream car and think of the foolish patrons inside spending that hefty sum of money for something they'll " recycle " down the toilet in a few hours...
