Cigarette lighter adapter
#1

Sort of a pedestrian issue compared to flywheels and swaybars, but...

I can't get the adapter power plug for my new TomTom nav system to work in the 968. Works fine in my Volvo. I suspect it is the size/shape of the plug recepticle. I recall having this problem with a radar detector in a mid-90's VW Jetta. I got some sort of adapter somewhere.

Any ideas on solution and source?

Yeah RPM, its the size of the hole (bigger than US).Not sure where to get a spacer that goes aroung the device plug (Radio shack maybe?). You can try making a spacer from plastic (thin and flexible) about an inch wide and long enough to wrap around the plug with out over lapping or (and this is kind of getto) use electrical tape aroung the plug. I have one that came with a radar detector years ago, heres a pic, hope it helps

ran into the reverse problem on a fun run - a boxster had a flat - 968 compressor wouldn't fit into smaller boxster cigerette lighter

I'm no help on the lighter adapter problem...but I would like to know how you like the TomTom?

I'm thinking of getting a TomTom One for my wife for her birthday.

Thanks Sam

I really like it. Very simple to use. Price is right. Seems rugged. Higher priced models from both TomTom and Garmin only seem to add features I don't really need. only slight downside is that the voice directions are limited to "Turn left in 100 yards" sort of prompts. Limited memory does not allow street names, etc.

Does not come with a carrying case and as you will want to demount whenever parked in public the $20 case from Crutchfield was a good accessory. Battery life is only about 2 hours so the power cord is essential.

That is exactly what I am looking for. No luck with Radio Shack. Any other ideas...

I swear I remember seeing an adapter a few years ago, You might want to just put in another power plug.

I plug a Magellen NAV system into my cigarette lighter plug and also use a cell phone adapter. I also have a 2 into 1 for when I want to use both and it also fits. They all also fit my 2005 Jetta.

The escort radar detectors come with an adapter. You might be able to pick the adapter up seperately from them or a radar detector sales site.

Good Luck!

Escort has a euro adaptor for $2.50 at this address, http://www.escortradar.com/shop.htm
