can't argue with that !

however, did they have to make it that F'UGLY ?! you'd think if you put so much power in a car, you'd hire an italian designer to dress it in a superb body as well. but noooo, they make it look like a damaged coffin. subjective perhaps, but to my eyes it looks like just another ricer vehicle with kit panels on it.

not that I'd want my 968 to meet one in a dark alley or highway <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/tongue.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/rolleyes.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

The back looks ok but those front fenders need to go.

I agree will all the comments so far (especially the "damaged coffin" analogy!). I see the GT-R as another example of a spectacular modern car, along the lines of the new M3, the C6 Corvette, the host of Audi R models, AMG Mercedes, etc. But as I've said before, these cars are so uniformly phenomenal, they are almost boring, if that makes any sense. Plus, all except the Covette are very heavy, which just turns me off. Personally, as much as I appreciate the technological tour-de-force that these cars represent, I'd take a 968 with about $20K worth of mods, and spend the rest of the difference on track days. With that kind of seat time, I could leave any of these cars in the dust (unless they are driven by someone who can afford to rack up as much seat time as I would!)

I'd have to agree with that as well. I do get a bit envious because of how much raw power and performance all these cars have, I have to remember that my car is over 14 years old, not to mention it's an "entry level" grand tourer, not a super car. Like that 335i I drove a few weeks back which was very nice, I feel like my car just has a lot more character making it more fun to drive. Maybe holding a conversation at 100mph isn't as easy, but I too would rather put money into restoration and mods than buy a new car.

Super cars are nice, but really, where in North America can you drive those cars these days? Here in BC we either have 80-100kph speed limits (maybe 110 if we're lucky) and/or loads of cops (who have even started using helicopters on all the 'fun' highways). To me the point of a sports car isn't to drive slow and look pretty, it's to go fast on twisty roads. The best out of the way roads I have found so far are in Oregon 4 or more hours away, and I have a long ways to go to improve myself as a driver to be able to take my car to the limit safely. No point in spending money on something that has 600HP+ and goes 300KPH at this time.

These cars also have big brother really intruding into them. The Japanese versions are limited to 112mph unless the GPS in the car places you at a race track, then the speed limiter it raised. They also heavily encyrpted the computer so it can't be hacked. Apparently the US and Euro versions don't have this feature and are limited to 155mph.

Geez, the way things are going these days I'm surprised they let it be that high <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/dry.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Kabuki windtunnel styling.

A Hyundai Tiburon with a big engine.

No soul, just a fast car for the aging ricer demographic.

For $80k I'll take a used GT3, 996 or 993 Turbo, or even a Z06. Maybe they don't have quite the same performance, but in 10 years they will still look amazing - and won't get confused with a Nissan Altima coupe.

My son drove his Altima coupe this morning to Best Buy ( I was with him ) and we parked right next to a GTR. Funny, the GTR does look like
the Altima..with some glued on fender flares and spoilers As I said before, one damn FUGLY car. Wish I had that performance in the 968 though
