I have developed a certain affinity for the 2001-02 BMW M coupe and have an opportunity to purchase a low miles, all-original example. The price point on the S54 engine examples seems to be high 20s. Most people with <40k examples are asking $32-36k but I don't think this is realistic considering the asking price new was around $44k. I'm willing to pay $28k for a low miles example and I've seen some go for less than this but it usually involves a seller that doesn't quite know the pedigree and provenance of their exact model. With only 690 in the US for those two production years, I'm thinking this could be the BMW to collect from this era. What do you think? Does anyone here own one? Have you driven one?

Nice running vehicle but IMHO it is not a good looking car. An old shoe on 4 wheels.
