[BBZ 968]

Can anyone explain the difference between these two types of vibration damper ?



The two on the left ( singles ) are for the rear calipers for the 968 with M030 discs .....piston sizes 30/28mm.



The double set on the right are for the front calipers from a 944Turbo SE with M030 discs...piston sizes

36/44 mm ( part no. 951 351 089 04 ). These are described as having a "Ring Scraper "whatever that may mean.

The double set ( not pictured ) for the 968 M030 ...piston sizes 36/44 mm ( part no. 951 351 089 03 ) are

described as having a " Protection Cap "



Q. Why are two different types offered for the same caliper piston sizes ?

Should I have the same type for the front as chosen for the rear ?

944Turbo SE ....No.23 only ( doubles 36/44 mm ) part no.951 351 089 04

968M030..........No.23 ( doubles 36/44 mm )

+968M030......... No.24 ( singles 36 mm ) part no.964 351 096 01

928S4............. No.20 only ( singles 44 mm ) part no.928 351 096 17



Q. Will the 968/928 singles fit my 944Turbo SE caliper pistons ( 36/44 mm )

I was under the impression the right set are what's used for the m030 front calipers, the left are what's used on the non-m030 calipers.





Why the difference, I don't know.

I believe there was a design change in the caliper pistons & seals, eventhough they are the same diameter. Sorry, I don't know if the dampers are interchangeable or not.

I have brand new dampers like the left ones that came as part of the rebuild kits for my non-M030 (standard) front calipers.
