1st 968, 4th Porsche - Los Angeles
#1

Hello all,

Met Brian Adlawan at the LA Region Concours last month who recommended I check out this site so here I am. (his supercharged cab is pretty sick, btw) I've had 3 944 Turbo's, (2 '86's and an '89 'S') and always wanted the 968. I was shocked at how difficult it was to find one for sale in the LA area, let alone one that met the requirements I was after. I ended up finding my black, 1995 coupe in Phoenix, and was able to catch a quick flight out and drive it back. So far, I've been thrilled with the car. It's every bit as good as my old '89 turbo, without all the turbo hassle. The car was made into an aftermarket CS by the previous owner (spoilers, suspension, exhaust, chip, LSD) so while it says CS on the back, looks like one and behaves like one, it's not a true, factory CS. So full disclosure up front for all the purists out there. Looking forward to joining Bob Larson and the crew for the SoCal related 968 events (Ortega run next month, Paso Robles in the spring, whatever else there is). I'm a music industry guy (work at Capitol Records in Hollywood) and officially gave up golf last year, so the car is my new hobby. Hope to meet some of you out there...

Welcome. That was a text book intro. [Image: smile.gif] I like this guy already. Looking forward to seeing picks of the CS. Although I think I've seen it already?

Always welcome to see another SoCal face! Do you ever get down to Cars & Coffee? There are usually a few 968's that show up - A white one and a Violet one almost every week, and I head down once a month or so with my Slate Grey...

First of all, thanks for the many welcoming replies. I assume that with a screen name like "tamathumper" that we've got another drummer in the bunch (I recorded and toured with a major label band "The Exies" from 2000-2006. Do a search on YouTube for The Exies "Ugly" or "My Goddess" - that's me behind the kit). I did not have my PR people write my intro. They can barely spell Megadeth let alone "cross-rotating balance shafts" <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" /> To Blau - I'm not aware of Cars & Coffee. The LA Region does a monthly breakfast club that I've been to at the Santa Monica Airport's Spitfire Grill. I'm the only 968. Brian is the first PCA guy I've met thus far who's got one. The cars and the people that own them (and care about them) are obviously a rare breed. Nice to find some like-minded folks...

Well played. Nothing so fancy as a tour, but plenty of good times.
