1992 black on black in San Francisco
#1

I had some bad luck with my 944 and had to retire her. I was in the market for an S2 or 951 to replace her. Browsed around craigslist for a month or so and found this little beauty. 1992 968 black on black with 88,000 miles. Plenty of service records and in great condition for the age. Tried to buy the car on the spot, but the seller made me wait an extra day. Apparently he didn't feel comfortable taking 11k in cash at night in a dark underground parking lot <img src="/forum/images/smilies/968/smile.gif" class="smilie" alt="" />

Had this car about 6 months and love it. Clutch went out at 89,000 miles and I had everything in there replaced. Went with the RS Barn flywheel and clutch kit. So after getting my car back after almost a month of downtime I gave her a good wash. Broke out the clay bar and smoothed her up even. Didn't get time to wax her, but maybe next time. I did find the time to drive down the coast a little bit and take some pictures. Here is one of the pictures from tonight.

Nice find -- and good to see another 968 in the Bay Area! Be sure to wave if you see another on the road!

You can make the Paso run next year. Can never have enough black coupes.

Thanks guys. I am still waiting to see another 968 while driving around. The only other 968 I have ever seen was a cab driving downtown. I waved, but was riding my bike so the guy probably thought I was a nut job.

I would like to make the Paso run next year. Looks like I just missed this last one. Maybe us Bay Area guys can go to dinner one of these days.

Man, I keep coming back to look at these pictures. I love the way she looks all cleaned up. I used my new camera to take these. Canon 1ds MK3. 21 megapixel monster that cost about as much as this car.

Some sort of Bay Area gatherings happen every once in awhile -- keep your eye peeled on this forum. I'm sure something will happen over the summer.

I was admiring your pics as well. I mean the car looks good yea, but the pics are really interesting. Did you use a filter of some sort? I can't tell if they are b&w or what. The car looks almost charcoal grey - you should poster one of those for your garage.

No filter. Most of the pictures are black and white. You get that gradient of light on the hood from the reflection of the setting sun. Some parts were more lit up than others so you get a nice effect. Underexposed maybe about a stop or so to keep things dark. I do a lot of photography, trying to make a living at it. This new camera is pretty amazing and produces a nice image. 21 megapixels is enough to print up a pretty big poster. I should print one of these for the garage. Which one do you guys like best?

Here is one of the back

From the top, #3 - face on with the R wheel showing. Great pic - looks like the car is moving. I wish I had just a little bit of that artistic flair. My pics all look the same - boring.

I think number 3 is my favorite as well.

If I am ever down in San Diego we can go for a drive and find a nice spot to take some pictures of your car. I have family in that area so I will be down there at some point.
