The Motors for my 1992 Cab (the convertible top) have stripped gears and need to be replaced. Am looking for the motor assembly for the Cabriolet. Any advice?

lol - i've been in manual mode for so long that i'm thinking of removing mine when i redo the top - not sure yet - if i do, i may put them up for sale

Just curious, when you say manual do you mean manually crank or just raise and lower the top like on a Jeep? If crank, approximately how many cranks does it take to lower/raise the top? (No Tootsie Pop references please)

Manual raise and lower - I guess like a Jeep. I've been "manual" for 6 years, never even think about going back to power operation.

the owner's manual give the procedure for changing to manual mode - basically you have to loosed 2 bolts at the center of the mechanism - then it will go up and down manually, but not by power - the OEM tool kit has all you need

+1 for manual here...I did it for two reasons:

1.) Power mode takes WAY TOO LONG and unless you make a slight mod, you can't raise and lower with the engine running, and I was so used to my Miata of simply unclip and drop.

2.) Basically to save wear and tear on the motors as it is the concensus that most top problems are created by the two motors getting out of sync with each other and possibly twisting the bow.

Was in manuel mode for 2 years, but now will g back to electric as my wife complains its to heavy before she goes "bodybuilding".
Syncro-cable was broken and some of the mechanism bent. "Fine" wife will cost some euros.
Issue in manuel = rattle of the metal bars behind the central nut, because nut is loosened.
