Well , I've seen that flap open and shut with the slider but it still comes out of the vents. Maybe this weekend, I'll take it apart and take some pics. Who knows, I could be missing a part or something.

There are 2 motorized actuators under the dash as well opening and closing vents. They are electrically attached to the 2 dash sliders. One is notorious for providing just hot air when the white plastic joiner piece breaks. The other may indeed be the vent problem your having.

Earlier this year when I was under the dash for something else, to the right and up and back a bit, theres a black plastic cover that I remember came off with one screw, behind that cover was a skinny steel arm that was supposed to be atached to one of the motors your talking about. Your right , the white plastic piece was busted, but I wrapped the arm and the other half of the plastic piece with piano wire and it held together so whatever flap or flaps that thing moved, (I couldn't see that far up into the dash) it was operational. I guess I need somebody to tell me how I diagnose this damn thing so I can get in there and get it fixed. I really stink at looking at schematics.

Your fix may not be providing enough tension or it could have popped off. It's suppose to push the flap closed pretty tight.

OK. I recharged the system last weekend with Enviro-Safe. There was pressure in the system and the compressor was cycleing.....just no cold air. Put in a can of Enviro-Safe Stop Leak followed by 2 cans of Enviro-=Safe R12A Refrigerant. The Pressure guage was up to about 50 psi. Temp at the vent is now about 63 degrees on a 96 degree, 75% humidity day. Doesn't seem cold enough to me. Does anybody know what the high and low pressures should be on the guage if all is charged as it should be?

Changed the pump and dryer 4 years ago and some off the o-rings .
Added oil and 850 gramm of R134a .
Works perfect .
Have to recharge the system next week to change the pressure switch near the dryer
Original R12 car .
