Nope. It went through as Pat aka porsche dude replied to it. I edited the orig post with a close up of my post count and later the thread vanished off the face of the board.

it was commented on by another member for the same reason, and neither of us could figure out what the post was about, so i figured it was a mistake or a test or something
i can put it back up, but you really should have explained what the post was about - nobody really pays attention to post counts, so it was not obvious

While we all appreciate the moderation of this site in general, and the total lack of spam and trolls due to the extreme diligence displayed by you, you really need to step back and lighten up a little.
Such actions are suffocating.

Dave, it would have been helpful if you could have given some kind of hint about what you were up to..like "Post # 1968 woo hoo" or something.
Anyway, no harm, no foul...

take a look at the post - it looked like a junk post, a mistake, or a test of something - i still think it has really no place here, but i put it back up anyway, as i understand that it was of interest to somebody else, and i don't simply apply my own set of logic and thinking to everything
i do occasionally make mistakes though, as it seems was the case with this - that is also why i hid it instead of deleting it, so that i could find out what it was about and restore it
the entire process of seeing it, hiding it, rhude posing "why", and me putting it back up took about an hour - i didn't even get a chance to send a note asking what the heck it was about before he responded with a new thread
by the way - in the future, send a note to the admin instead of posting on the site about some action taken, and we can avoid all of this
it looked like a junk post or a mistake, and i stand by my actions - i will continue to hide such things, then send a note, then deal with it in a more permanent form based on what i find in response from the poster
but i need a little more than an hour - i do have other things going on too

As for Flash having other things to do...

anyway - i'm sorry this upset folks, but i still think it was the right thing to do, and if anybody cares to take a step back and see it from my perspective, i think you will agree that it was not some heavy handed censorship, but rather a "let me stick this here while i find out what it is" kind of move
and as i said before, i am not the only one who didn't get it either, and the response to his question didn't make any more sense than the first or second post from rhude - he has now edited the post and it now makes sense
so, cut me some slack

whenever we find something that we think does not belong, for whatever reason, we contact the original poster to discuss it - in the meantime, as a precaution, we hide whatever it is - this allows us to figure out the appropriate action, while still affording us the ability to restore it as it was
we have no desire or interest in curtailing whatever anyone has to say - this particular instance was clearly a simple case of confusion, which was subsequently cleared up by an edit by the original poster - had he have sent us a note, or waited a little longer, we would have had the communication, cleared it up, and it would have been a transparent maneuver

1st off - I'm not bothered because its back. I do feel that an email/PM before taking any action would have been a better way of handling it. As I'm not know for cluttering up the board with .. Oh, wait a min... Never mind that point.
2nd This is most certainly the place for post 968! I love this car and thus the numbers, regardless of where I see them, put a smile on my face. I even notice it in other peoples post. and if you can recall a couple years back someone took a pic of there speedo and the numbers read 968XX. That was cool.
Finally, I get to taze Flash. After all it was my post. Man up Bob, I'll be aiming low.

i get the odd grin associated with anything that says "968" - as i said, while i personally don't get a zing out of that, i understand that others do, and have no issue with such a post, thread, or whatever - that was not why this started
it just didn't make sense when i saw it, as the post was just a screen cap, with a "..." - the post count thing was not obvious - then somebody else posted that they didn't get it either - then there was a response that didn't clear anything up - so, i hid it until i could contact you
now that the post has been edited with an explanation, it makes sense
unfortunately, i was very busy and not given the time to jot a note that very minute - my bad - also unfortunately you chose to post a thread asking the question, rather than jotting me a note - so, we now have a thread about something that was simple enough, and could have been handled off site very quickly and easily - oh well
given the same set of circumstances though, i would do exactly the same thing
no tasering today
