I'm in. I'll bring a bottle or two of the wine that I have been making for those of you who are interested can taste what I've been working on perfecting.
If the Nor-Cal group is going to meet at the La Quinta at 11:45, we probably need to depart Gilroy before 9:00, whichever route we take. The last couple of times when I've gone down to my job site in Morro Bay, the 101 has been lined with CHP pointing their radar guns at anything that moves, basically limiting you to posted speed limits. I don't own an ECM device, so I have to rely on my whits to avoid getting nailed and as with everything else in life, the amount of whits at ones disposal is inversely proportional to ones age.

Need many many pictures to ease the pain...and few bottles of Central Coast Zin wouldn't hurt.

Unless you are the wicked witch of the west there isn't much chance that you'll melt in the rain.

Given anymore thought to the route south or the timing? I really don't mind getting an earlier start. As I noted in another post, the 101 the last few times I have driven it to Morro Bay has just been infested with CHP pointing radar/laser guns at everything that moves. It definite slows everyone down and makes crusing at or north of the speed limit problematic. If we go down the PHC, it is just slower. I think last year we were lucky with the traffic on the PHC, but this year we are going to be making the trip during the Easter Break which means more travellers on the road. Flash has gone to a great deal of trouble to put Saturdays events together and it is somewhat schedule driven. Better to be there earlier than later.

We could do Hwy 25. It is a favorite motorcycle route so expect a fair number of bikers who hopefully will attract more attention from the CHP than we will. And, you are correct it is a very pretty ride. Even more so with the wet spring we are having. If I'm not mistaken the Chalone vineyard is along that route. Made some Pinot Noir from chalone fruit this past fall.
There is an outside chance that I will go down on Friday. There is a project meeting schedule in Morro Bay for Tuesday. hopefully I can get it changed so I don't have to make the trip twice in the same week. I'll keep you posted.

BTW, I will leave here Sat morning after all ( not going to Monterey Friday ) so Chris, if you're also on a Saturday departure schedule let me know and we'll try to figure the mini-convoy meet ; Erni lives about 5 minutes drive from me just off hwy 280
and we'll probably connect for the drive down now that we're both leaving on Sat..
