the cayman is a perfect example of my point - thank you for pointing it out - the interior volume is the key here - there is much less volume in the cayman - it's below 33 cu ft, at 43.8 (14.5cu ft is cargo beyond that), but it's certainly not anything like the 968's spacious 63
you can probably spend the whole day searching and find dozens of contradicting information - the only thing i can suggest is using the terminology set forth by the agencies in charge of defining those terms, and not by what a particular user might choose to misnomer something for its own reasons

LOL...Point taken. My vote still goes for Coupe and Cabriolet. It might be wrong but it feels so right

Another option, though I'm not necessarily advocating for this, is to call it a "fastback".
I don't know what the official SAE definition is, but here is the Wiki definition
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fastback
Hatchback is a subcategory of fastbacks. The 911 and the 356 are also considered fastbacks.
Calling it a "968 Fastback" would be accurate and unambiguous without the negative connotations of the hatchback.
Besides, I used to have a Mustang GT "Fastback" years ago

Awsome stang Jamie. I love older stangs, My father had a couple...sort of, a '71 Mach 1 as well as a Mustang-Capri RS.
I like fastback as well.
When i think hardtop, i think a convertible hardtop used for winter driving.
As for being a sports car or not, i would consider the 968 Cab a sports car based on the old def. of sports car. I would not consider the Coupe a GT car however. the 928 GTS is a true GT car, BMW 850CSI & E46 M3 Coupe are GT cars. GT cars are powerfull (relative) luxurious sport cruisers.

Disclaimer:
I hope I didn't give you the wrong idea.
My Mustang was nowhere near as awesome as the one in the picture.
That was just the first picture that comes up if you put "fastback" into a Google image search.
Would be a great car to have in the collection, though.
Very different car than the 968.
But they both are "fastbacks"
Is this growing on anybody other than Dino and me ????
