WOW!
Hershey was great. No a drop of rain and the sun shone...It was perfect.
Melva and I were almost the very first to arrive. we ran into Paige (Tommy) and Emma (Jakerunner) and found our way to the special parking corral.
In a short time others began to arrive and the party got into swing when Jeff and greg rolled up in "Minty". Greg did a fantastic job on greg's car and kindly offered to wash mine down and save my sore shoulder. That allowed me to spend time on polishing the glass and making my 968 better than it otherwise would have been.
Melva and I had dinner with PorscheDude and his lady Lorri and caught up on all of life's news. I then joined the dinner in time for Jeff's Reigister information. I won't steal his thunder, but Jeff has gathered more information than anyone could have imagined only 1 year ago. It was great to see Jeff in full health.
Darryl and Christine were kind enough to host a party in their room and the wine (and scotch) and conversation flowed. The best part of any event is the people, and I was happy to catch up with Cosimo, Anchorman, Kathy and all of the great folks we have met at previous events.
The Saturday morning lineup went off without a hitch. OK, I'm not a fan of the 2nd gear parade (my issue), but it was cool to see 30 some 968 all in a line. We stopped for our group picture at the Antique Automobile MuseuM and I can't wait to see the pics.
Greg Coe, the ultimate swap meet shopper found a 1992 calendar with medallion (968 medallion) so I went on a search and found my own (thanks Greg!). Now I have more stuff to add to my growing collection.
My 968 now has nearly the full complement of RS Barn goodies, and yes, I am an enthusiastic fan of everything they produce. I took several opportunies to open the hood, point out the goodies and extol the virtuers of RS Barn and Design1Racing products. I am a shameless promoter of these good people. I also gave Darry the keys and let him try out the new short shift kit. I'll let him tell his impressions.
I also met a young man, who last year asked to hear my cat-back system and this year wanted to hear and know more about the header. I'm pleased to say that he has purchased both. Joel also drove my car..and I think he would really like a cab now. Joel and his father Rick are 2 really nice enthusiasts and I hope we will see them many more times.
We finally had a chance to meet Dino (and Nicole)...what can I say, Dino Rocks! He has tried, or is willing to try, any available possibility to squeeze the most power out of his car. I had the priviledge of taking the car for a short spin around the parking lot and all I can say is I want MORE! Dino, anything you ever need, feel free to call.
The weekend ended with a tech session at Don's house. Pete gave a "state of the nation" presentation of problems showing up and how RS Barn is working to preserve our cars. Max gave a presentation on tools and diagnostics and cleared codes using the Hammer as well as showing belt tighening, etc.
One of the absolute best pieces of news from the weekend was that not one, but 2, 968's were awarded prizes in the concourse. Jeff Coe's Minty took First Prize overall and Pete's Firehawk took 3rd place! Thanks to Pablo for dragging the Firehawk up to Hershey, glad it was worth the effort. (and Yes, Pablo, you can call at 1 AM...LOL)
If there is anyone I forgot to mention by name I apologize, I tried to meet and shake everyone's hand, you all make the experience of ownership so much better and I appreciate you all.
and now for some pictures..
