you should be fine - from san diego i can't think it will be more than 2 days - not sure what happened on the other one - i was pretty shocked to see that - stuff never takes that long - i'll let you know if it became a problem, but you're covered

and i think we are up to 18 confirmed cars now

as for galva - no worries - agreed - while of course we want people to drive their 968, we would never exclude somebody just because they showed up in a different car - that's just rude - there is already one previous 968 owner who is showing up in something else (not sure yet if it's the boxster or the 993 turbo)

Cool Thanks.

Hey Dan, where are we meeting for the trip down south?

Hey, no AUDIs !.. no BMWs, no VWs, no Opels, Nein, Nein, Nein ! This is not a damn German Auto Fest tongue.gif
At least talk you dad into letting you borrow the Porsche .. even if it is a rear engine vehicle rolleyes.gif Sheesh, I'm having enough difficulties coming to terms with having a Boxster among us.. DJ, you need to bring the 911 turbo, leave the Boxster at home ! biggrin.gif

Aw, fine, if you guys really must.. but no Corvettes !

We're meeting at the ususal spot in Gilroy ( Starbucks shack, Outlets center, Leavesley Rd exit off 101 at 8 am ) . But if you're coming from Vacaville, you're adding at least another hour to the trip, plus the one or two on top of that on 1, instead of just taking 5 down ? You're more than welcome to join the caravan of course, but I'm just sayin' . Not sure yet if Sam ( EEZATOY ) from Sacramento is going and if so, which route he plans to take, but may want to check on that..

Just found out about this. I am in San Francisco and I would be crazy to miss this. The only problem I might have, is the work I am doing on the car later this month. As long as everything goes smooth, I should be able to make it. You never know what might happen though.

The project this month is front engine reseal/rebelt and water pump. RSBarn performance cams. RSBarn headers and exhaust. Stage 3 RSBarn chip. I recently replaced my clutch/flywheel/PP with the stuff from RSBarn. Depending on time/money, I would like to add shocks, struts, M030 sway bars, upper and lower braces.....Actually, I would have preferred to do the suspension first, but the belts really should be replaced, and I might as well do the cam while I am in there, and the exaust is needed for the cam......woops, just slid down another slope smile.gif

Anyways, I really hope to be there. Can't say anything for sure at this point. Really just depends on the car. Hotel doesn't matter, if nothing available, I will pitch a tent.

Edit: Scratch the cam. Just talked to Pete and he says I will never pass emissions with the cam he has now, it is designed for track use. He said he should have a street cam in a month or two that will pass emissions. So I will wait for that. No problem, that frees up some money for suspension. Pete has some Bilsteins for about 2k that he recommends. Then I will grab his M030 sway bar kit, and some top and bottom braces. I should have a pretty different car in a month or so!

I say that you should work the total project in stages so that you can button up the car and make it to Paso. Most critical parts first. After Paso you can take as much time as needed to finish the work, and you will have a fabulous memory of the event.

That is probably a good idea. Really though as long as all the front engine work goes well, the exhaust and suspension should not be too much of a problem.

You guys are right though, better to get the engine work done, give her a detail, and come down to Paso, than be sitting in a garage while you guys sip wine.

I'm in. Got the mechanicals addressed, and more importantly, the right seater situation is resolved. So that's 1 more car and 2 more mouths to feed wink.gif

Dan are you all headed back UP the coast or are you taking the fast way home? I really want my SO to see it and so I might take another couple of days and visit the Bay. Would be fun to drive that in a caravan of 968s.

Nah, one coast drive is more than enough for me. Going back on 101 as usual.. but not sure what the others' plans are for the return trips on Sunday. We should talk at the get together and see if we can set up one or two smaller caravans if there is enough interest in any given route(s), and concurrent timeframe for going back. In the past while many of us drove down in a caravan, the return trips have been pretty much solo - everyone leaves at separate times, though twice or three times I had a "wingman" on the return - only 2 cars, but hey it makes the trip better than a solo run, that's for sure.

I'm definitely up for a return up the coast. Last year I left Cambria at 8am and didn't have a car in front of me for over an hour. Last weekend my wife and I drove to Paso from the Bay Area and took hwy 1 both ways. Because we went in the middle of the day, there was no avoiding getting behind other cars. On parts of the route, there just aren't that many places to pass safely. But when we stopped for lunch I noticed that there weren't actually that many cars going by. It's just that if you keep passing people, you eventually end up stuck behind something very hard to pass. It's hard to do, but pulling over and taking a break is the way to get a really nice clear stretch of road when you resume driving. Otherwise, the whole point of the drive switches from negotiating great curves to passing people. Anyway--looking forward to doing it again!

OK, got a hotel up the road a piece in San Simeon. R4S's are seating nicely. PS leak is down to a reasonable drip. Oil is fresh. Just need to wash and wax and we are ready to go. See you all in a few weeks.
