...i wanted things to load faster on the iphone...
Please don't cater the site to iPhone users...I know Google,Yahoo, et al, and many other sites have separate portal sites that load and are scaled for viewing on these devices, but I would think that most folks using this site are either sittting at a desk and/or at least using a full size screen on a laptop of some kind.
iPhones and portable web browsing devices are great for keeping in touch while on the go, but for picture viewing, which is what this poll is about, they're not the norm. Sorry, just my thoughts on portable web appliances...
Now, C'MON THUMBNAIL...go thumbnail, go!!!

yeah - i don't like links either - but the pics on the first link make me nuts - i can't see the whole thing at once - avatar pushed it over until i just fixed it
All pics look fine and view well on my notebook running fire fox. I have heard that comment about images not being viewed within the widow before. I assume that your screen res is set low. Im running 1920 by 1200 and normally run 3 open windows with zero viewing problems.

daryl - i'm not "catering" but i am trying to keep it in mind, and not have everything go wonky or take forever - my old tired eyes just can't see everything on that gadget, and i find myself having to use it too often - but, i won't let my own personal desires determine which way to go - to that point, i have not voted in the poll

hmmm, I see your point, we need a happy medium here.
[quote name='smokiemon968' post='54106' date='Jun 6 2008, 04:11 PM']David, you do have a great "post style" with your pics.

It's a very simple, no frills program. Simply open up your image in it, select Image from the toolbar, and select Attributes... from the drop-down. That will tell you what your original image size is. Now with basic 7th grade math figure out the ratio from those settings to the Avatar settings of 160Wx120H. Ex: if your picture is 1600x1200, then you need your image to shrink to 10%. Finally, go to Image/Stretch and Skew... and enter that ratio% in the Horizontal and Vertical box and voila! Upload to the forums.
It actually takes longer to explain it than it does to do it. For pics to put into posts, obviously the ratio% becomes larger.
Sorry if I seem to be patronizing. I don't mean to be, but it does seem that some people make to huge of a deal out of this process.

Not sure why everyone frets about resizing software... if you are running Windows XP there's a program already on your computer, called Paint.

The best format to save it in is JPG format. Sounds like you have the pictures in another format.
Don't know how I did it..................but I did.
OK. The pic is now in the "personal pics" section as a JPEG..................why isn't it printing to the right of my posts?
