Plan "A" failed for me. My dad is going to the East Coast for a business trip.

Not sure if I should go now.

Bob - true that the turnbuckle is easy to order and the bolts are at any good hardware store. I bought the bolts already, but I'm trying to decide between $70 for a new turnbuckle, welding my snapped one for free, buying a used one, or fabbing an alternator tensioning bracket at the school welding shop (to run with a short belt).

Add to that a midterm on tuesday, work tuesday night and all day Wednesday, and school most of thursday. That leaves me basically just Friday to wash & wax as well as figure out an AC solution and implement. Well I know I won't be bored this week.

I haven't made this trip before. Does the NorCal contingent go down and back in one day or do some of you stay over and come back on Sunday? I'm thinking I might spend the night and check out a winery or two on Sunday before returning.

Lord Galva was looking for a ride down, I'm willing to give him a lift if he still wants to go, but it might make more sense for him to catch a ride with someone coming from Sacramento or Contra Costa Co. I live in Alameda. So, to ride with me he'll have to make his way to Oakland or Alameda. I'll need to leave Alameda by 7:30 to make the Gilroy outlets by 8:30.

I'm still in Europe, but will be returning next week. I will also be returning to a mountain of work.

I don't recall anyone from the NorCal group having stayed over in past events, it's a fairly easy back and forth ( or rather forth and back  ) day trip but if you want to tour more wineries after Tobin James, I'm sure Paso must have one or two decent places for dinner, brunch on Sunday, etc.. :(

On my monthly drives between SLO and SF, I get to Paso Robles in well under 3 hrs from SF. It's definitely doable for a day trip there and back but don't expect to go home and have enough energy to play soccer.

go with the new parts - you know they work - no time to fab or fiddle - minutes to install

Yeah I think new parts are my best bet. Who knows what kind of strains are in a used part, and it might break soon.

And, I just remembered the run isn't THIS weekend, it's NEXT weekend, so I do have plenty of time. Hopefully my car will look much, much more respectable than last time. Last time my car was the ugly duckling, but it was alright, I won the "award" for most stuffed car.

don't put too much pressure on yourself to clean and preen - it's more important that you just make it

Count me in! Hope that there will no earthquake there. The clock tower got damaged from the last quake.

I had a blast at the last fun run event around the Vacaville area, and met folks from this forum for the first time. Flash was a blast to meet.

Robt in San Mateo (just 7 miles south of SFO)

I can give you the forecast for Paso Robles for every day between now and November: sunshine with lows of 70 and highs of 100. Slight chance of clouds.

Robt, welcome and I hope to see you there!

Bob - no pressure, I just need to represent red. It was the most abundantly produced 968 color and nobody in CA has one but me. I won't break my back detailing it but I'll at least wash it this time.

You gotta see my new wheels. T3h H0tneSS.

That is weird that the 968's in CA seem to be only Black or one of the blues. Only the occasional green or white show up on craigs.

Flash do you have a route, timing yet? I would be coming from the south and so would hook up with the caravan at some point. I really want to fix my top before I set out to 100 degree place, and I need to get a couple of nits picked (loose body panel and bumper molding). I should be able to get to these things this weekend after I dispense with a wedding Saturday. I am also hoping that my lovely bride will join. Without a functional top (its down now) that's not going to happen.

Anyway, when you get something figured out please post.

Thanks Joe

Ok, guys I'm planning on going to this thing one way or another.
Option A: I can hitch a ride from one of ya B)
Option B: Drive the s***ty ass van my dad gave me for now :)

Either way where are we all (bayarea guys) going to meet before departing?

If I end up not being able to go I'll try to pass on Arash's umbrella and tailight to one of ya so he can get them. :P

i'm wondering if this is such a good idea this weekend - i really wanted to get up there before it got too hot, but way too many things have been going on to give this event the attention it deserves

to be honest, i have not had a lot of time to put this together this year - i am only now getting around to emails and such

to add to that, i just found out that the owner took off for 2 weeks, and while we would be in the hands of a manager, who is completely capable, it would not be the same

i am still more than willing to do this, but if there aren't enough people to justify it, perhaps it would be best to push this back until we can really get it together

head count?

ditto.

ok, who's absolutely, positively, no last minute excuses <_< , committed from Norcal ?

the absence of Tobin James owners probably does put a bit of a damper on the exclusivity of our VIP touring enjoyment, but we'll be perfectly fine even without that component provided we get a decent showing from both regions of this fine state to meet... after all, that's the main purpose so if this weekend looks very "light" on combined attendence, postponing the event for a few weeks may not be a bad idea.

I am still planning on attending, but to tell you the truth, if it got postponed into June that would be fine with me. I just returned from a couple of weeks in Italy and I'm way behind in my school work and I have finals at the end of the month. Then there is work, so if the date slips I'm OK with it, but if the decision is to go this weekend, I'll be there.

Hot weather doesn't bother me much, so if we reschedule for June, I'm OK with that or we could do it in the fall sometime, say October when the weather is cooler.

If it gets pushed back that is perfect.
My dad pulled out because its "MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND"
Duh. I forgot. They are going to Carmel so I'm stuck at home.
June could be good.
Right now i'm out.
