well, since announcing the site changeover, to date, we have had 117 new legitimate members (not spammers) join us - it seems the word is getting out there - i just wanted to say WELCOME to the best 968 site around - come one come all - no politics - no egos - just fun with one of the best cars built

make sure to check the CALENDAR and LOCAL EVENTS sections regularly for things going on in your area - this is a great way to meet fellow members and have even more fun with the car

we have plans to add more new features to the site soon, and increase the usefulness and functionality for all - it is, and will be, an ongoing and expanding process, as we continually strive to provide what the members want

if you have any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas, please feel free to contact the admin at the address at the bottom of the page

Thats a tremendous growth. I recall not to long ago when there were only about 2 topics going on on any given day. So those fresh voices are warmly welcomed by me also. Now, don't be shy about posting.

I've often wondered the same thing...BUT, unlike PCA, you don't have to OWN a 968 to join the forum!! :)

Rhudeboy said it best...new voices (and faces) are great...I look forward to meeting new members at the various events.

Are the membersnumbers as rare as the vin of the 968?

This because speedracer64 has number 8.051. :)

The higher number then total members is due to the spammers. They sign up for accounts to spam the forum, this increments the member number. When a spammer account is deleted the member number isn't put back in a pool or something.

Thats a lot of spammmers!

2808 in total..

What a waste of time for them. And for the moderators too.

Probably the last real registered member number minus the total registered number of users. That would give you a approximate number of accounts that have been deleted.

hmmm- don't know - i have spoken online to at least a dozen of the recent registrations, though most have yet to post

i do know that a lot of the registrations are spammers - i have been sifting through them one by one, as i find time, and deleting them - painstakingly slow process though

the good news i that the new validations process i put in place has stopped them all but entirely

I am starting to love this site and finding info is becoming more easy as I get used to it. Almost forgot about my Guru status and 650 posts on Alfagtv6.com......(the other front engine rear tranny 2 door GT)

To the people behind the scenes keeping this site in good order, THANKS!!

Probably a bit off topic but didn't want to start a whole new thread...

I noticed today that (now) there are about 11 members online - and 53 guests...I clicked on the link to see who is doing what (which I didn't know you could do) because I was curious what all these guests were doing - as it turns out all 53 were viewing the Blogs - of which there are few and yet generating a surprising amount of interest.

Just curious how this works - the whole guest thing (are they just web search spiders crawling around) and why they would get stuck in the blogs...

It's actually probably spammers in the Blogs, there is a slight issue with this version of the blog software and spammers. The later versions include spam prevention measures for the blogs.
