There is a "she" with two purple 968s, she belongs to the NNJ PCA region. Doesn't Kim (Canada) also have two purple 968s?

That's Rene, she has a amaranth violet 94 cab and a violet blue metallic 93 coupe, both tips. The only way she would sell one is if she found a pink cab.

Later this year, I will be selling a similar car (though not nearly in as pristine condition as the eBay car). It's a purple cab, with purple top, and even the Porsche emblem on the seat -- but black interior. It has a broken cab bow that needs to fixed though.

Jeff,

To the best of your knowledge, is Slate Gray Metallic a common or rare color? I am picking up a 92 Coupe with Gray Leather interior in a couple of weeks.

Hello Rob and welcome. As you can see I bought a 92 Slate gray Cab. Everywhere I go........well almost everywhere, people first say "nice car I never saw a 968 before" and then "what a beautiful color" Good Luck and I know from personal experience.....You will not be disappointed. As one member says all the time......"DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT." and I say drive her hard you will be AMAZED at how she'll stick with you and call you a sissy for not going even harder into that corner.

I love the slate grey... My 944 S2 is that colour and it keeps the car looking very modern. I wish I could have found a 968 in a similar colour..

Dang... Ross, I've seen your car in previous threads and all along I thought it was a moss green color. Probably attributable to the surroundings but wow, now that I see it's gray, that's really cool. I've certainly never seen one in person before. Very unique indeed. Rock on!!!

Thanks...........Ya know I bought her sight unseen and I was afraid I would really hate the color. The price was right but it is a tipronic and I wanted a 6 speed? I really wanted a black with tan cab? But when we first met when she rolled off the Horseless Carridge delivery truck.............Love at first sight. And the shine fron a 92 car? My new Toyota doesn't shine that nice. Original paint too. So much for CA and AZ sun kills the paint I guess.
Have a good week all, .........While the weather is so out of sight this time of year in CT.................I'm going driving

cool

i've heard of the regional paint issues before - CA and AZ heat can be hard on some paints, but unless the car sits out all the time, it is really color specific - reds suffer the most

i've found that east coast roads do more damage because of the stuff they spread on them, and it often shows up in places a lot harder to deal with than the paint - engine bays and undercarriages are the victims on that one

but, you found a good one, so, enjoy

Maybe my favorite color on a 968.

We were out over the wkend and my SO sees a grey P and says - "I don't like it, it looks washed out", to which I responded, oh, that's a Boxter hun, they all look that way

Now that she is back from the doctors I am going to have her detailed. Jeff should be able to give me the name of a good local shop. Can't wait to see what she looks like all shiney and stuff. No lie, all expenses aside, I have really come to love this car. She has been twice the fun of my 356sc. But if the economy doesn’t get right and business continues to slide she may have to go on the block. Here’s hoping……………

Hello all, I'm very new to the 968 forum. I was having a hard time finding info on them, but I seem to have found the treasure chest here.

I guess one of my first posts can be resurectting this older thread. I'm looking for a Coupe in a "wild" color also. Jeff, that mint green is awesome! blue violet, amethyst, etc etc. thanks!

Yes you have found the treasure chest. Stop looking. There is nothing about a 968 that you can't find here. And if it's not in the archive, it will be soon - ask and you'll get an answer.

Good luck with your search. With the wretched economy anyone with cash can pretty much name his price.

Leave no stone unturned.... Chances are you will have luck finding one with some patience and some research. Most likely the source will not be one of the forums either. The guys on the forums with "unique" colors have a tendency to hold on to them. A lot of the unique colors that have changed hands over the last couple of years have been via word-of-mouth, external searches, etc. from what I can tell.

Either way, welcome and good luck with your search!

A few years back our local P dealer had two 968 cabs that were wild metalic colors. They set on their lot forever and the price kept going down and finally sold. I saw one around for a year or two and now never see either.

I would ask a sales guy at a dealer to keep his eyes open. They do pop up as trades now and then.
