Resetting the airbagwarning light

Is there any alternative at this time?
I saw some mention that there might be files to make your own but I'm not sure where to find those either.
Most immediate need is to clear the airbag light and then diagnostics depending on those results.

I'm lucky to have one and it works great to reset the airbaglight.
For the moment I don't have found another shop who's producing the interface.
The alternative is to build the interface by yourselves with parts you need to buy at the local shop.
If you download the software there is also an electric scheme. You can you use this to build it.
Be sure you use a pc with a com1 port. Do not use an USB version. This will not work with the software.

I've made circuits before so I'll have to see if I can find that schematic. I'm hoping it includes the overlay for the PCB.

This looks like a great project but I can't justify $500USD for it right now. Would rather put that into replacing rubber parts on this 15yr old car first.
I will PM you to see about building my own. Would like to try to find the PCB layout so I can etch my own board.

Thanks for mentioning it on this forum.
The tool that we made was originally designed for 928, we added motronic ecu for the 944 and the 968, and also developed a second product for 911 versions adding all other 911 ecu's.
Since the 968 shares some of the electronics it is interesting to see if you guys would be interested.
But make no mistake: this tool can do a lot more than most home made OBD kits. This tool is equivalent to the KTS301.
Let me know how I can assist.
If anyone in the Netherlands would be interested to come over to the
south-east and to hook up the 968 to our tool as a test, I'd be delighted to help.
There's a demo version on our forum server.

It is real nice software what also works with our 968.
Maybe I will go buy it in the future when I buy a 996 or so. For an amount between 249 and 297 dollars it's a bargain.
Does someone have experience with it?

The Jenkins tool looks great but $500 is too much for me. The Durametric tool also looks great but please beware the $300 kit only works on 3 vins (it will remember vins and limit you to 3). If you want no limit it's over $700 USD which is way too much.

I did it!
Thanks to Ritchie for the instructions and hard work, plus I snagged an Andy-ECUfix board back when he was still making them.
Tonight I fabbed up my 9pinFemale to 9pinFemale cable (Thanks RadioShack!), dumped the ScanTool software onto my work laptop ( - don't tell my boss), followed Ritchie's writing and NO MORE DAMN "!" OR AIRBAG LIGHT! Worked like a charm. For those who care, my laptop is running Windows XP Professional.
Also, thanks to the enterprising individual(s) who created the software and forged the way!
This totally rules! I'm 37 and I feel like a teenager right now! All giddy and whatnot!
I need to go find my wife.....

I'm ready to follow your lead - I have the Andy-ECUfix device, an older laptop running I don't remember what (although I also have a newer laptop with XP Professional), so...LET'S DO IT!

I'm glad that you've take your time to make it work out.
Is is so fabulous to do a reset of the electronic device.
Working on the car will make you have more fun and don't bother about triggering the light!
(And found your wife Biotechee?)
Anchorman. It is very easy to start it al when you already have the parts. Make some leads and put them into the right position of the 19 pins connector. And fire up the software.
Biotechee can you tell me witch fault code was displayed?

I don't remember the description following the code numbers shown, but the numbers were 21 and 30. Both were associated with the airbag as that was the only problem I had (I disconnected the airbag after disconnecting the battery, then reconnected the battery without first connecting the airbag).
Took the 968 out tonight to grab take out for the family and it was nothing but a clear dash board- not damn idiot lights!

I assume Biotechee it was the steeringwheel airbag?
code 30 is a implausible signal when everything is connected.
