My mechanic bought a huge cabin cruiser and closed his shop last year supposedly until Jan of 2025.
I have no yet seen the shop open. I don't kow if he will return to working on cars or not.
I cannot work on this vehicle myself so I am forced to look at the possibility of selling the car.
It is a 1994 cab in polar silver with less than 55K
I have had extensive work performed on it to bring it back to being back on the road. When I I bought it in 2013 it had been garaged for 5 years and had 44K on it.
It is #1,511 of 2,008 North American 968 cabriolets
It is #490 of 681 1994 NA 968 cabriolets
It is 1 of 349 P5 Grand Prix White cabriolets (3rd most popular color on cab) (Car was resprayed by a Porsche dealer before my purchase.)
It is 1 of 5 P5 Grand Prix White cabriolets paired with a Chestnut Brown top and a Chestnut Brown interior
Factory options include partial leather in Chestnut Brown (code BM), painted crest center caps (code XD4), full power driver’s seat (code 437), hi-fi sound speakers (code 490)
Car is silver with chestnut brown top and interior. One of five cabs and six coupes with this interior.
Car was repainted silver by 2st previous owner, with other service work totaling over $10K
- Engine was taken out for respray and it was hard to even find evidence it was done. All work was done at a Porsche garage. Previous service done and clutch was replaced at 30,000 miles.
I bought the car (4/2013) from the widow of a friend who passed away. The car sat for 5 years in a garage with only 44K on the odo. I was told something broke and he parked the car.

Car now has just over 50,000 miles on it. I find that it sits more than I drive it. I have nearly $20K invested in the car on top of what I paid for it.
Top still works flawlessly. – Ah hem, well it did. It’s now in manual mode as it needs new transmissions – available from Porsche Germany
Original spare tire, air compressor and case (tabs are gone) present
Original tool kit intact
All owner's manuals are present
Complete service history documentation comes with car except for the short time it was owned by the first owner. My friend's father bought it as the second owner and my friend got it from him. So I am either the 3rd or 4th owner depending on how technical you want to get.
Flaws
- There are some scrapes on the left rear lower quarter from where the previous owner backed over a curb stop
- The hi fi sound system only plays the two rear speakers. I replaced the amp under the driver's seat but that wasn't it. It could be that wires are just disconnected. I never use the stereo preferring to listen to the car so it never mattered.
- I hit a frog and he took out the plastic grill. New grill in box included.
- Car has a slight oil smell when started if not run for a period of time. I was told it was the valve cover gasket and when it dries out, it lets a bit of oil weep out, Once it warms up it goes away.
- It is due for a new battery.
- it needs new transmissions for the top
I have since my last posting, put in all new suspension. Rear shocks with coil overs, bushings all around and new front struts with all new rubber and strut mounts. I waited over a year for these to be manufactured.
New suspension bushings on all four corners as well as tie rods and misc rubber. I have also had a dashmat made from covercraft. I took all the photos for them as I believe I was the first 968 they had ever done.
I also put new odometer gears into it but they sent me the wrong size, from odometergears.com and I haven't gotten back to them on this. So it's not spinning but has less than 51,000 on it...
It also has brand new floor mats.
There may be a few things I am forgetting but that's the bulk of it.
Car is registered with Jeff Coe at the PCA register.
Car has agreed value insurance of $35K. I would entertain REASONABLE OFFERS - no lowballs please. I am offering it her first out of fairness but will look at bring a trailer or cars and bids if it comes to that.
Clean Carfax - I did one when I bought it. Clean Florida title in hand.
Photos are a few years old but the car looks the same. I just put antique plates on it this year.
If interested email me here or at antiques@fivekatzantiques.com
I don't check in here very often...
If I forgot anything I am sure you will ask when you see the car. I don't' want to play 100 questions via email. If you are interested, you know what it is and you will want to come see it in person. Bring cash I don't take checks.
Thanks
Ed
I forgot to mention the car is in Florida. It has been garage kept since I bought it and has only seen rain a couple times. Look for NASA and the VAB and I am just west of that across the river. Just about an hour south of Daytona and an hour east of Orlando.
