I'd be delighted to join the gathering. Haven't really spoken up as my schedule is pretty booked but I will be in town the last two weekends in June. Willamette Valley is pretty great that time of year; I'd expect highs in the 70s.

Unfortunately I don't have the resources at present to organize but I'm happy to help sort out options.

Anywhere on the stretch of 99W between McMinnville and Newberg would make a great base for out-of-towners, however Downtown McMinnville is the place with the charm. Lots of good drives, pick pretty much any road heading north or west and it's going to be a fun trip. I'm sure Chris knows the area best and would have more specific recommendations.

About 45 min from McMinnville is the World of Speed motorsports museum - it's a well done museum with mostly local stuff but there is a vibrant Saturday AM cars-and-coffee. http://www.portlandcarsandcoffee.com/ Unfortunately I think the Porsche themed show is in late July.

Other scenic drives in the area would be - obviously - 101 on the coast and the Columbia Gorge Historic Highway which is a haul from wine country but on a Sunday morning - very well worth it. :)

We would need someone familiar with the area to put this together. I will be in Europe end of April, all May and beginning of June. Who will volunteer?

SNOVA has identified a couple of good routes and there are plenty of wineries along the way. As much as I would like to jump in and plan this event, my primary focus has to be on find a job with a winery. I have applications in, but we'll have to wait and see what happens on the job front.

I arrived here in mid May last year so my experience with the weather is limited, but mid June might be the best time frame. Harvest time mid August to early September, although we had a fair bit of wet weather in early September, much to the consternation the winemakers.

June can still be a bit wet. I have gone to plenty of HS Graduations and got rained on hard.  If we want to play it safe than I would recommend July - August.

Route 2 starts off where route 1 ends. btw.

We need a planner. One for the routes and maybe another one for all the other logistics. Bob and I will not be available for this. Anyone has the time and effort to take this on?

Unfortunately, my first priority is to land a position with a winery here in Oregon.

Have you introduced yourself to Isabelle?

Jay,

Not yet, but now as we approach spring I will be paying call on her. The wine industry really does into hibernation during there winter here. Nobody is willing to even think about taking on staff until March.

I've been very busy this past month working on taxes. We are trying minimize the amount of gains tax we will pay on the sale of our house in California. The key is make sure that we capture every last expense associated with the renovation and sale.

I also thought about Chris Mazepink, he's left Archery Summit and struck out on his own. I purchased his Ebony a while a go when he was still with Benton Lane...great guy!

Now that Covid seems to be a bit more under control, any interesting starting this effort again?

Chris Vais and PdxMike,

I think I'll attend Cars and Coffee tomorrow in Sherwood.   Looks like we got great weather tomorrow June 19th @ 8am.   Any interest in joining and making a mini gang of 968 owners?

Didn't see this until just now. My wife and I are in the process of packing up for a return to California. We will be leaving next week.

There are still a few. Mike with the white cab is still there, and I believe there is a Riviera Blue coupe there who attended our gathering in Monterey.

Let's think about a late summer get together, maybe Nor Cal/Oregon area?

probably hard to tell, but is this "Mike" in the top left hand photo?  He is leaned over and talking to me through my 968 window.

It is hard to tell, but I just got a text from Mike, he still has his car, and he plans to keep it until he dies! His has a faint Porsche stripe on the hood that you can barely see in the WCG Tahoe pictures.

Shall we start discussing late a August meeting?

I'm open to the idea.   Sounds like its going to be a very hot summer in the southwest. Looking to get out of the heat?

I am interested; getting out of LA is always welcome at that time of year.  Can we get a critical mass by then? I know that Labor Day weekend is out for me.
