Dan - I would but I heard that there are no Tim Horton's in California not really along the way. Damn.

I have a 4:30 pm meeting Friday, so I'll head out of Sacramento just after. I am looking forward to Saturday's activities, although I have to head back Saturday evening.

My mechanic, Robert VanLooy from VPI Supercars in Sparks will be available all day Saturday. He may drive up to VC to meet us and check out the cars. Robert was trained at the Porsche HQ when it was located in Reno in the 1990's, and he worked at Niello for about a dozen years after that. He knows these cars very well since they were current when he was being trained at Porsche in Reno. I will have some cards to distribute in case you are looking for a mechanic who is actually affordable. He still has lots of loyal customers from the SF/Sac area who bring their cars to Sparks (which is next door to Reno) for service.

Here's one to hold you over until the rest of the group gets to their computers.
The fun run today was an absolute blast! The road around Tahoe was spectacular, and the road up to Virginia City was twisty and loads of fun. What a thrill it was taking those corners with a group of fellow 968 owners who were willing to use their cars as Porsche intended. We did get a bit tired of waiting for the guy in the Mustang to catch up, but he really was doing the best he could considering the limitations of his vehicle.
We are already talking about the next one.

A generous amount of time to eat and cruise around in Virginia City. Tina & I made a point of having drinks (Pepsi and Sarsaparilla) at the Red Dog Saloon, one of the birthplaces of the San Francisco Sound of the 60's and homebase of The Charlatans. Then some more driving and a hearty family-style Basque dinner, followed by a drive up to Emerald Bay. Altogether, around 125 miles through some amazing countryside.
Finally hanging out until exhausted, then get ready to do it again tomorrow.

As I live in Oregon I vote for get together closer to here. As mentioned tons of wineries both North and South Oregon. And temperature's are usually not higher than 85-90. Also lots of back roads and great Golf Courses that do not cost a fortune to play at. Same price for in state or out of state players
