Dan - I would but I heard that there are no Tim Horton's in California not really along the way.  Damn.

Paul, that's too bad, will miss meeting you. Hopefully someone will bring a camera.

Looking forward to our meet at STL. Bring warm clothes. Eves will be chilly and days warm.

I have a 4:30 pm meeting Friday, so I'll head out of Sacramento just after. I am looking forward to Saturday's activities, although I have to head back Saturday evening.

We arrived early this evening. The check-in is a little confusing. The hotel is next door to the hotel on the corner called the "Park Tahoe Inn". Check-in for both hotels is at the Park Tahoe Inn office on the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd./Highway 50 and Park Avenue. Then our hotel is just down the road. There is covered parking, but it's pretty narrow - good thing we're not the 928 club. See y'all tomorrow.

My mechanic, Robert VanLooy from VPI Supercars in Sparks will be available all day Saturday. He may drive up to VC to meet us and check out the cars. Robert was trained at the Porsche HQ when it was located in Reno in the 1990's, and he worked at Niello for about a dozen years after that. He knows these cars very well since they were current when he was being trained at Porsche in Reno. I will have some cards to distribute in case you are looking for a mechanic who is actually affordable. He still has lots of loyal customers from the SF/Sac area who bring their cars to Sparks (which is next door to Reno) for service.

There are a variety of services that scan all forms of communication and media postings. Perhaps not the wisest choice of words considering. Just saying!

About 20 wine soaked revelers have arrived, more to come. The weather is perfect and its great to meet some new friends, and visit with some we've seen before.

Tye '97 Heitz was worth the trip alone.

If Mr. Cash shot a man in Reno, what was he doing serving his time in California's Folsom prison? Makes one wonder.

Wish we were able to have been there w/ you all - When I thought we were able to go, I packed up a vertical of Trilogy - Vintages 1992, 1993, 1994 & 1995, so all the years of our cars would be represented - Next trip - They will keep. Look forward to seeing some pics from the trip.

Cheers,

Pauli

Morning has broken on a 56 degree cloudless sky, highs in the low 70s are forecast, a far cry from the 97 predicated for home. Melva and I walked all over Tahoe this morning and will be loading up our "sweeper" silver cab (Mustang Convertible), for what should be an amazing fun run. I'm taking lots of pics, but won't be able to post until I get home.

968ers are the best !

Here's one to hold you over until the rest of the group gets to their computers.

The fun run today was an absolute blast! The road around Tahoe was spectacular, and the road up to Virginia City was twisty and loads of fun. What a thrill it was taking those corners with a group of fellow 968 owners who were willing to use their cars as Porsche intended. We did get a bit tired of waiting for the guy in the Mustang to catch up, but he really was doing the best he could considering the limitations of his vehicle.

We are already talking about the next one.Attached File  P1010320.JPG   186.05KB   0 downloads

Today was an absolute blast! It really is nice to meet face to face with cyber-friends- especially such a wonderful group of people. Nine 968's with Jay's nice and modern Mustang bringing up the rear. Six cabs and three coupes. A great mix of colors. Quite an impressive parade. We cruised up along the shore of Lake Tahoe, and then cut over the mountains. Great roads, spectacular scenery, minimal traffic. Sweet.

A generous amount of time to eat and cruise around in Virginia City. Tina & I made a point of having drinks (Pepsi and Sarsaparilla) at the Red Dog Saloon, one of the birthplaces of the San Francisco Sound of the 60's and homebase of The Charlatans. Then some more driving and a hearty family-style Basque dinner, followed by a drive up to Emerald Bay. Altogether, around 125 miles through some amazing countryside.

Finally hanging out until exhausted, then get ready to do it again tomorrow.

Had a blast driving around the lake and through the twisties. The mustang has plenty of muscle, but not the finesse of the 968. Melva and I are so glad we made the trek and hope to return the hospitality.

Off on a new adventure in the morning, sorry to leave our 968 friends.

We took about 300 pictures this weekend. We'll bore you upon our return home.

Jay

Back in the hotel room with a glass of wine toasting a great run today! Spectacular roads, breathtaking scenery, great lunch at a winery, and fun roads back to the hotel. Wonderful weather, sunny, low 70's, Tops down or sunroofs out! Not polite to tout ones own event but we had fun! Thanks to Matt, Grayson and Jeff for local coordination! Really enjoyed getting to know all the participants and spouses/partners personnally.

Will post some pics later.

Next year where do we meet???

As I live in Oregon I vote for get together closer to here. As mentioned tons of wineries both North and South Oregon. And temperature's are usually not higher than 85-90. Also lots of back roads and great Golf Courses that do not cost a fortune to play at. Same price for in state or out of state players

We had one participant from Portland, perhaps we could get several locals to help plan?
